Rick Roddam gone from Lotus Fresno

Rick Roddam has been removed from Lotus Radio Fresno. Rick was the PD for 105.1 The Blaze & 107.1 K-Hits. Both stations seemed to be doing good, except for the fact they were both all voice tracked with other market talent, with the exception of the morning shows Jenn Lipp on KKBZ & Jody Jo on KHIT.

From the sound of the stations it seems Lotus was afraid to spend money to make money (ie talent) and Rick was the fall guy. Add Rick Roddam to list of Fresno talent out of work....Danny Salas, David Caudillo, Woody Pena, Paul Wilson, Sherry "Sweet Thing", Laurie West

Clear Channel go local!!!!!!
 
It seems like a strange move. I was under the impression that The Blaze was showing meaningful gains. I’m curious who they plan to drop in the PD slot.
 
Lotus made a mistake there, The spring numbers for The Blaze were the highest they ever had.
 
I used to listen to Rick when he was voice tracked on CC's Modesto Rock Station, KMRQ-96.7. I really enjoyed Rick Roddam's Beer Run!

Lotus is not promoting anybody that is currently employed at the company to PD, They are running an ad on the radio looking for someone to fill the position.
 
I think Lotus F**ked up on getting rid of Rick, he knows how to program a station, and I think It wasn't his fault, that KHIT And The Blaze has low ratings, I think the Management had more of a say what gets played musically,so with the exception to Jen's show in the morning, I'm not going to listen to The Blaze the rest of the day, If I have to I will listen to the FOX or turn to CDs, MP3 or what ever.BTW check out the Rock and Classic rock board on Radio-info, this subject of poor management by the owners is well covered on most topics.
I don't want to get started on that tonight, probably tomorrow.
 
I totally agreed I thought Rick was great, I even use to listen to him on Y101 with Mr. Clean...both funny as hell, that was when CBS owned KWYE.

I'd suggest David Caudillo, formally of Fresnos Jack-FM...pretty smart little guy, or Paul Wilson formally of KRZR, both kinda quite off the air but great on the air...or if Lotus was really smart they'd lure Jeff Davis away from Peak Broadcasting. I think a smart programmer would bring Rick Roddam back and team him up with Jenn Lipp again in the morning...i think their station van still says "Roddam & Lipp"

But they'll probably bring someone out of market who knows nothing about Fresno

Rick sent me a message that if The Blaze is my station of choice, don't stop listening to the BLAZE, I will keep listening to the BLAZE and support them, It is true the BLAZE is Better than the FOX 95.7 in IMO.
 
Rick may be a good guy, and a great radio talent... but the bottom line is still that THE BLAZE and KHIT have not managed to move the needle at all... and the closer LOTUS gets to flipping both stations... is a good move IMHO.

Flip to what Todd? The Blaze And KHIT have original programming, not found on any other station, The Blaze plays music KJFX will not touch, KHIT does better than KABX. Every format is covered in Fresno, Don't think we need a 4th Hip-Hop station or a 3rd Hot AC, a 3rd Soft AC station or a 5th Country Station, and we have current rock well covered by KFRR and KRZR.
 
I was going to add to my original post,but time ran out, Perhaps KHIT could go Triple A, or a Jack/Neil/Bob/Harry/Dick/Dave/Steve-FM format.
