Rickey Smiley on WPWX

Posted in the wrong forum..(Rhy) moved here, anywayz...

Chicago gets Southern Swag soon with Rickey Smiley.
While i'm familiar with the show listening to it on many stations for a few years, it will take some gettin used to for this market. Course fits the format... but I'm wondering how his style will take there. Bout time they shake things up tho.

What's wild is they just let go 3 main players from their staff last week including hard-sought for Sam Sylk [after a delay and fight with Radio One in Cleveland].... word is Tre, Shawn Knight and Sam were "too old for the demo." Now announcing Rickey Smiley coming soon, dropping Tom Joyner, and their new positioner Chicago's 1st Choice for Hip Hop, shows they are trying to skew back to 18-34.

TJMS back only on WSRB heard mostly on the South Side of Chicago and with a strange hodgepodge format the rest of the day.

Too bad CBS wont give Urban AC a try in the windy city on 105.9. Crawford owns 102.3 WYCA also. How is the signal in the metro? Is it worst than 106.3?

I think 102.3 only has a Southside of Chicago/Gary/Hammond signal as well.

102.3 fades in and out between WYCA and WXLC in Aurora. Joliet gets WYCA clear, as it was Hot 102 and i heard them out there and had billboards in that area as well. Still looking for a hot 102 logo I know SOMEONE has to have one or a picture of one, or the billboard picture with Doug Banks on Hot 102.

I said it a few years ago Crawford should buy or attempt to make a offer to WXLC and simlucast at the time "the Groove." Would have been great to have the 2 106.3's and 102.3's to their cluster.

Now I'm confused why WYRB still has TJMS on there for Rockford when WYRB is a CHR/Rhy, and that's just as bad still. Show doesn't fit the format.

Course I said they should have looked to buy the Emmis stations but now we see that won't happen so I guess no major market for them now.
