Might you folks be able to give me some info?
In a week or so I should have some money coming in for a few necessities. One of those 'necessities', hi, is an analog AM-SW receiver for some good old-fashioned dial-spinning.
I know very little about eBay ..... and where we live here is not exactly the commerce capitol of the hamfest scene. I'd appreciate greatly if you folks could provide me withth a few places to look, either on-line or via reasonable car distance.
I'm primarily in the market for a well-running Lafayette HA-600, with the earlier HA-700 or one of their other 'budget' communications receivers as a default choice.
And which one of those heritage Zenith-Transoceanics was the best for AM DX?
And where could I get a Lafayette HA-600a and/or a Hammarlund SP-600 fixed?
The Lafayette has a tuning core of sorts that cracked ; that seems to be the main problem. The SP-600 probably could use a do-over somewhere between a tune-up and some transmission work, if you get me, as opposed to a complete restore-job.
We're halfway between Hazleton and Pottsville PA, near I-81.
Forgive the free-classified essence of the post. I meant only to go the trusted source -- the hobbyists -- for some of them might benefit as well from any responses to this.

Thx folks!
