Rihanna/Calabria overload on Z100

Both songs play once every hour... talk about beating a song in peoples head... I wish I was cashing in that Publishing check...

How often does the average person drive in the middle of the day for over an hour?
Not very often, and if you do drive over an hour (on a highway without getting stuck in traffic), you'll lose reception of the station.

But will people want to hear the same exact songs on the way back as they did on the way there? And what about people listening at work?

I could see every two hours, but every hour is overkill IMHO. Then again, I'm not Z100's target audience, and I think pop music in general has hit an all-time low.

The thing is a lot of people can drive for even a couple of hours every weekday in each direction to and from NYC. Traffic can be brutal and tough.
Furthermore, Z's signal is strong. You can drive from west Jersey deep into Long Island without losing the signal. You can drive from central Jersey up to parts of the Hudson Valley and not lose the signal, or from central Jersey to southern Connecticut.

I was on a #1 CHR station in Upstate NY for 8 years and for every person that says you play a song too much, you have 5-10 more calling the listener lines requesting that same song. It's the nature of the beast and some people will listen to songs on repeat on their IPods and CD players... it's been that way on hit radio since the pop charts popped up and it will always be that way, no matter how the music is delivered; the most popular songs get the most spins.

I HATE that freaking Calabria song. That song sounds like S**** OMG seroiusly. Who the heck makes these songs?!?! IT's horrible. How about some rock on Z100 a little bit more. It's too rhythmic I think.

How about less rock on Z100? I wish Z100 sounded more like 103.5 Kiss FM in Chicago. That Calabria song is awesome!

Z100 can't please everyone all the time.

Your right they can't but they just don't seem to play enough of certain songs when they're really good or don't add them till wayy later. I like Z100. But NYC Needs an Alternative Rock Station

Perception VS reality. Power songs like those play every 90 minutes or so. They do NOT play every hour....the other posters are correct. The listening time of that station is not normally an hour and people want to hear the top songs when they put on the radio.

i just checked mediabase and that song was only played 91 times in the past week! in order to be played every hour it would have to be played 168 times in the past week!

I got every hour from yes.com - they were logged every hour that day I checked.

The fact that any station plays any song 120+ times per week is indeed wacko, but that's been the case at top 40 radio for most of this decade since the audience became substantially younger and more ethnic.

No but KFTZ Z-103 in Idaho Falls, ID is pretty pleasing. And this is my first time hearing it too!

Given what's been generating Z's ratings, I'm not sure about the "younger" part. Maybe more uneducated/underclass might come closer to the mark...
