Rihanna- Please Don't Stop The Music

Shut up and drive is a good song but not dance music.

anything that fills a dance floor is dance music,,,,
just not the narrowly defined and defended(and out moded) version of dance that is still big in denmark or wherever...

la lumina... thats the craziest crap I heard!

What Yer saying is, if you go to Moes Bar n Tavern in the outskirts of Texas and they play the Boot Scoot Boogie and packs the floor, its dance music?????????????????????? Thats LUDICRIS! Dood... I cant believe that!!!! Another example is AC/DC play it and it packs the floor for a "Party DJ" its then classified as dance music because it packs a dance floor? No no no no NO! Thats just wrong! I can see your a top 40 guy all the way.. Rhianna is not DANCE and nor will it EVER be unless its remixed. The house remix of umbrella is smokin.. now thats dance! The CHR stations play the normal radio mix of it.... when you go to a club, and its beat mixed seamlessly, then your talkin.... so I dont totally agree with the whole point here........ just my 2 cents

beats mixing seamlessly is so last century dot com....nobody cares about that anymore except djs themselves who grew up in the mid 90s

Dance music is any song you can dance to. The Dance format is a defined style of music mostly consisting of house, trance and breakbeat. The Dance format music often is driven by a more pronounced 4/4 beat than by the melody. Most people confuse what you CAN dance to and the definition of the Dance format.

so 90s huh? Then tell me why radio stations do live to air? because thats where the $$$$$ is... a quick cash infusion to the station is always welcomed... they make hundreds of thousands of dollars on these broadcasts.. its presentation and if you dont know how to present it.. then chances are its going to flop. So you cant say nobody cares because if some dj gets on their airwaves and mixes like he has "Shoes in a dryer sound" then you can bet yer dollar they will find someone that can beatmix to give the pro sound.

they broadcast live on the weekends to keep their evening club sponsors happy, and because hardly anyone is listening, their target audience is out in the clubs, movies, sport events etc on the weekend night, not sitting in front of a radio listening to BOOM BOOM BOOM all night...

Evening club sponsors?

Usually in radio sales they do target potential clients... the clients do not end up sponsoring the radio station themselves.. it usually is a hard sell to get them onboard and costs alot of money to the average joe out there.

LTA is a phenominal way to meet and greet your audience who are fans of the announcers and music promoted on the air back at the station....... plus again i must quote myself again.... "GREAT CASH INFUSION"

People tuning into the "Boom Boom Boom" are fans of the music.. and I can remember watching ratings spike up when a LTA actually started versus to regular station programming. I seen the 1/4 hour break downs for myself...

For someone with a name like FreestylePete, I'd think you of all people would realize Shut Up And Drive is freestyle. The instrumentation may be a bit different from typical freestyle tracks, but the style is clear.

As for Don't Stop The Music, I was equally surprised to hear such a straight dance track from a pop artist. Everyone gets a kick out of it when I play it!

Wow, Little Rihanna has come along way. I can't believe how many remixers are clawing to get to ahold of her newest singles. Please Don't stop the Music has the most remixes available of almost any new single right now. I heard the Wideboys remix here on a local R & B. Is dance music finally making the mainsteam splash again?

ummmmmmm. no, it isn't....
it just happens to be a track from an r&b/reggae associated artist with an old school dance lean(certainly not a trance record or euro mega beat party going on here)..
Z100 just added the record in NYC so it's officially a hit..

Hey, it may not be a dance style we all know from the past, but who's to say this isn't the start of some new dance sub-genre? Only the fans... and they seem to be eating it up like crazy. I'm not ruling it out as a dance track.

a new dance sub genre would have several tracks happening at that same time...otherwise, it's just a sore thumb, which is what it is...
