Rihanna "Pon De Replay"? ~Your opinion goes here~

I personally think this is a Hey Ya! decision here. If it gets into the top 3 on CHR/Pop, Hot ACs that played Hey Ya! might spin it...

What do you think?

It's a great summertime CHR hit...i've enjoyed hearing it throughout the summer. Not sure if this is Hot AC material though. Hey Ya was a bit different, since it had such a mass appeal. For example, my mom, who is offended by and/or hates 95% of the pop chart, loves Hey Ya. She doesn't like any other Outkast, but she really took to Hey Ya.

I could see some borderline Hot AC/CHR stations spinning it, and I could see some Hot AC's trying it at night. It may even get some HAC chart action. But it wont be the next Hey Ya. At least thats my opinion. I've been wrong before.

Eh, I don't see it. MAYBE some of the "90s and Now" Hot AC stations, like WQAL / Cleveland, might pick it up and give it 10 - 20 spins per week, but it's not likely. Usually the only songs that those stations pick up are records from "name" artists, i.e. Gwen Stefani, Black Eyed Peas, Usher, etc. Rihanna is a new artist, hence the big reason that I don't see Pon De Replay crossing over to Hot AC.

Good thought, but not a likely happening... at least IMHO. I could be wrong.<P ID="signature">______________

Rihanna's just now falling off the CHr chart so now it's offical this isn't a Hot AC jam.

What I was thinking about is Lose Control by Missy Elliott. That song sounds VERY similar to Hey Ya. Shake It Off just won't go to the top 3...I just don't think it will. Lose Control defintiely will though, and I'm thinking when it does, it will have enough popularity to massively crossover. Opinions?

Funny, this can be considered Hot AC but Fragma, La Bouche and other melodic dance hits can't.

I'd say, depending on your market and the acceptance of urban sounding music, this would be a go but it's awfully hip to play next to Jason Mraz.
