RIP Alex Karras

He's been in hospice care after suffering from kidney failure. And there are unconfirmed reports that he passed away tonight.

Karras, of course, was best known to TV viewers as George on "Webster."
 
Alex Karras was mentioned last night on ESPN's "Monday Night Fottball" about being critically ill and as a former member of the Monday Night crew back from 1974 through 1976. I don't recall if it were Mike Torico or Jon Gruden that mentioned it, though.
 
It was Tirico, and he brought it up in the final minute of the game.

Still hanging on as of this posting, but the prognosis is grim.

Diamond Joe, why start a thread like this based on "unconfirmed reports"? Desiring to get the story out can result in being sloppy with the facts. It's irresponsible and disrespectful. You, of all people, should know better than that.

How many of you remember the 1978 movie FM? Karras was "Doc Holiday", the midday DJ with the lowest ratings on the station. Eventually replaced by Cassie Yates character Laura Coe.

"FM" was a very good movie, but hard to find. Karras was excellent as an "over the hill" jock who gets fired. Martin Mull's meltdown was classic!
 
@Rollo: That was never my intent; in fact, I was going by a tweet from the reputable Darren Rovell (he later retracted it). We all make mistakes... right? :-X
 
It would be nice if one of the networks aired some episodes of Webster as a tribute. That show has pretty much vanished over the last decade or more. The last time I saw it in syndication was probably in the early to mid 90's.

Last time I saw it was on WGN America in 1999, until it was replaced by Full House
 
Really her IMDB page says Oct 1st. I didn't realize you could spoof the IMDB.

But the genius of it is, who would WANT to spoof her death of all people.
