Really? What a shame!EZway2go said:Interesting how his signature song "Moon River" was never released as a single.
That's a good question since 1961 appears to be when his Cadence hits ended and the Columbia era began. (Of course, that decision could have factored into his changing companies, too). The story cited in my newspaper was "...because his record company feared such lines as 'my huckleberry friend' were too confusing and old-fashioned for teens." [Huh??]klutch00 said:Really? No wonder it didn't chart! Was that Cadence's fault or Columbia's?
It was a little depressing last week when I told a co-worker about Andy Williams and she had never heard of him. She's 37. But as soon as I mentioned "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year," she immediately knew who he was. That's a nice testimonial to the timelessness of this great music.Chuck said:I hope that somebody digs out the old "Andy Williams Christmas Special" video tapes and airs them. PBS showed one of them a few years ago, and it was still fantastic.
Well, if that's the case, explain why Henry Mancini's version with orchestra and chorus made it to #11 on the pop-singles chart?EZway2go said:That's a good question since 1961 appears to be when his Cadence hits ended and the Columbia era began. I did some additional research and learned it was Columbia. Both Henry Mancini's and Jerry Butler's versions debuted on the charts on 10-9-61 and both versions peaked at Number 11.klutch00 said:Well, if that's the case, explain why Henry Mancini's version with orchestra and chorus made it to #11 on the pop-singles chart?EZway2go said:That's a good question since 1961 appears to be when his Cadence hits ended and the Columbia era began.
