RIP Bob Carter, aka Sammy Terry, 83

When I came to IU-Bloomington from NYC in 1970, channel 4 provided my introduction to Hoosier weekend culture --Sammy Terry and Sam Menacker/Dick the Bruiser.

I knew instantly that my move to hoosierland would become permanent

I also used to visit Family Music Center (owned by the Carters, big friends of music education) frequently, including the week they closed the place--walked out with a back seat full of sheet music for 20 cents on the dollar. I told whichever Carters were there that I felt guilty about walking out with so much stuff for so little money, but they said they were glad it was going to a good home and asked me to share it with my students...which I did.

mark carter , bob`s son, has for a few years has been doing the sammy terry charactor at his fathers request.
