RIP Bob Liddle

Just heard via Facebook that longtime Seattle broadcaster Bob Liddle passed away this morning at the age of 88. Sad news...I doubt anyone will ever surpass his 50 year on-air career in Seattle radio. The guy was a class act.

Big loss. Had a chance to work with Bob briefly in the 80's. What a gentleman, and what a unique voice! My condolences to the family.

I had the opportunity to work with Bob at Sandusky, in addition, my mom grew up with Bob's wife. Our family has known the Liddle's for over 60 years. I think Bob had the best K-I-X-I calls ever! Of course I feel Seattle is a completely different town now, almost feel that natives are a minority. Many new people, but the older native's would know Bob, and his legendary K-I-X-I legacy. Bob and Betty June must have enjoyed over 50 Cruises in their wonderful marriage. My condolences to Betty June and family.

My dad--the late Jack Hemingway also had the pleasure of working with Bob at KIXI...he always had good things to say about him, and I met Bob a time or two when I was a little guy...and he was always very nice and would take the time to talk to me a moment or two.....a definite class act.....now between Bob Liddle and Bill O'Mara---losing both of those guys this past year....a couple of true legendary icons.....now broadcasting for the 50 Thousand Watt clear channel AM in the sky....

Thanks to both Bob and Bill for a job well done.....

kudos gentlemen...

Incredibly sad. Bob WAS KIXI.......

I too met Bob while working at Sandusky.
Always pleasant and friendly.
And - of course - the radio stories he could and did tell.
A remarkable career and a very nice human being.
Sad to hear the news.

From a daughter of Bob Liddle: I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words about my Father. He was a good man and had a blessed life that we are very thankful for. I am glad to hear you enjoyed his radio years and thank you for remembering his legacy! We will miss him dearly.

Back when I was a kid, Mr. Liddle gave me a fairly extensive tour of the studios. I think it may have been during the years when KBBX was playing Percy Faith and Mantovani records from their "studio" at the Edgewater Hotel, and KLSN was operating from the University Village. Made a big impression.
