RIP CC

While relatively few would mourn the demise of Clear Channel, you have to wonder about an article from someone who thinks that Citadel is in any shape to purchase ANYTHING.

They could both be bankrupt by the end of the year. It takes some doing by the Mays boys and Farid to make Ed Levine look like a genius - but they managed.

Whoa. Hold on SirRoxalot. I agree with the first half of your comment, but it's going to take a lot more to make Ed Levine look like a genius.

You guys feed Ed Levines ego way too much. A few things about him and his organization of croanies.

1) A lot of locals are employed by his stations but not too many :Good Guys"(Nice or Talented)
2) The station is NOT owned locally like they say on the air, Its owned by banks.
3) Way more corporate "Sterile" than the Clearchannel building ever was.
4) To me, listening to them is like the K-mart radio was forced to be in your dashboard.

Word is that Galaxy is its own ad agency, creating billboards for clients and buying time on other radio stations. Who needs Mower and Pickney when you have the Galaxy Agency. Are
businesses that stupid to fall for that. Oh that's right they are objective and doing things in the best interest of the client.

The Clear Channel sales rep`was in this afternoon and she was not happy.A report came out that showed they only had a 1 point lead over the second group in sales AND B104 was no longer number one in sales in june. She felt that corporate would not stand for this.
I told her to calm down.Honestly, they still are a great company and as Destiny gets built(and it will) CC will be the beneficiary for their close relationship with Bob Congel.

That's because CC staff have to make certain quotas to keep their jobs. One guy just left because he was about to get the boot! That's right keep your staff scared straight.

Boy! There's a quote you don't see very often. As far as CC benefitting from Destiny getting built - you (and they) better hope it happens before they go belly up - and that's rumored to be in the very near future.

She did mention that a longtime sales person was leaving and that one of the 'bosses" would be leaving soon.I forgot to add that she said that while the Syracuse market was down 7% in sales,Clear Channel Syracuse was down 24% in June.Is that even possible?

Surprised you got so much dirt from a sales rep. They are not suppose to talk to clients like that. Big Brother is watching. They have been banking on Destiny for years. And who will benefit? The rep that handles Destiny as an account, probably his girl friday who continues to be taken care of.
