RIP Dick Clark

It is of great sadness that Dick Clark passed away at 82. He died of a massive heart attack after going in to get a outpaitient procedure.

oh brother. he was no more talent than most air personalities. right place right time. just like ryan sea crud no talent. give more respect to locals that passed like big ron o'brien...he was a legend...not right place right time.

That is the most CLUELESS remark I think I've ever read on these boards, and boy, there's been some wonderous ones. With due respect to Big Ron O'Brien, he had a job playing the hits made famous by Dick Clark, Hy, Joe Niagara, Jim Nettleton, Don Rose, George Michael and so many others who passed before. Dick Clark WAS a local talent for 12 years at WFIL Radio & TV.

When you remember Dick Clark, remember that he had to turn states evidence to avoid getting indicted by a senate subcommitee in the 1959 payola scandals. ABC made Dick Clark divest himself from over 300 record company related businesses. Also read up on how he got the American Bandstand job from Bob Horne.

Dick Clark had a relate-ability to the viewer and respected the artists.

He was "local", as a result of that formula, it made him successful.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

right place right time. seemed like a nice guy and good pipes. to pass it on to ryan sea crud. he is a mommy and daddy's boy pa announcer in high school. what a joker.
