My heart is truly heavy with the news of Hyski's passing. I grew up with Hy on WIBBAGE, and the news brought genuine tears to my eyes. The man WAS radio (along with Joe Niagara) back then. I even remember Hy Lit on WDAS AM 1480 for awhile. I listened on WOGL when I could as well. A TRUE pioneer of radio.
I am in radio myself, and he never knew it, but Hy Lit was my mentor. I even (with apologies) say "uptown, downtown, crosstown...cookin' on one thousand thirty three burners"...kinda like Hy used to do, cept for the numbers.
I am very sad.
