RIP Jim Brand

This is such sad news. He was at WDVH in Gainesville from the early 70's until earlier this year when his health caused him to retire. Even late in his career, he was doing a daily morning show, Swap Shop on Saturday, and coming in on Sunday to make certain the church service made it to the air OK.

This is very sad news. I was only acquainted with Jim, however, what I did know about him was very impressive. Jim was a true professional all the way and for over 40 -years Jim WAS WDVH. My sincere condolences go to Jim's family. He will be greatly missed.

Very sorry to hear this news. I met Jim in 1973 when he left Gainesville to do mornings at WQYK in Tampa. We kept in touch over the years and he was a good friend. He will be missed.

Jim went back to WDVH only to return to WQYK briefly in 1976 where we worked together again. Jim also worked for Gordon Mclendon as PD at WAKY in Louisville in the 60's and many more great radio stations.

RIP Jim.

Condolences to Jim's family and many friends.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jim Brand, during my tenure as Station Manager of co-owned WRZN. Our paths had crossed previously when he was Program Director of WBUD in Trenton NJ, when they flipped to Top 40 in Jamuary 1970...and I was a 16 year old high school kid looking for my first break. I went to work across town at WAAT; Jim stayed at WBUD ( like so many others) for 3 months.
