RIP KRZR 103.7

103.7 has been running dead air for over an hour now, It appears the rumor of them going to THE BEAT, possibility a R&B Oldies is true, I might be wrong, it could just be a technical problem.

THE BLAZE 105.1 KKBZ has started playing more hard rock 90s, 00s and recent hard rock.

KFRR 104.1 may go back to "It Just Rocks".

I wonder whats going to happen to Skippy, Doug, The Rev and Coyote.

DISREGARD THIS TOPIC I WISH RADIO-INFO WOULD DELETE IT, I MADE A MISTAKE KRZR IS BACK ON THE AIR, I JUMPED THE GUN WITH THE RUMOR.

Expect a format change on or about October 1st. Rumors from within 83 East Shaw say that CC will blow up KRZR and launch "The Beat" to go up against Mega 97.9. No word on staff changes but expect at least two F/T KRZR jocks to receive their pink slips. Deaf Spaghetti strikes again...hey, is Mancow available for mornings?

If a change happens in that cluster, look for KALZ to flip to GEN X along with KRZR to become THE BEAT. This would be Jon Zellner (SVP Programming) and Steve Weed (OM)'s doing - Not Deaf - Deaf likes his sacred cows and only fires them when he is told too. If that happens, LOTUS will flip KKBZ to active rock.

Does anyone at 83 Shaw even know anything about programming an Old School type station to go up against Mega 97.9? I know it doesn't take a genius but we are talking about a staple (KMGV). Steve Weeds back ground is R&B/Hip Hop & Rock right? KRZR will probably just be moved to 102.7...anyone on this board in the building? have they told told the staff anything? Especially after the Fresno Bee article.

CC could simply transfer someone from Modesto? They successfully program Old School KQOD-Mega 100 in Stockton.

here's what I don't get CC has never been successful with KHGE 102.7, KSKS has dominated it from the start, and KRZR has been dominate over KFRR, even when KFRR had the "It Just Rocks format" with a combination of Alternative and Active Rock, KRZR was Dominate. and KALZ has lost to KWYE, A GEN X format would probably work for KALZ.
As far as "The Beat " 103.7, CC may use a Satellite Feed from one of their bigger stations instead of being local.
I guess will find out around October 1.

Well I like The Blaze the way they are now, but If that happens I hope they will not eliminate any music they play now and just add some current active rock.

If they do flip it to a TRUE OLD SCHOOL station.. I wouldnt mind putting my hand in the mix of that... Fresno is a HUGE OLD SCHOOL market. I dont think Mega has really gave Fresno its true old school feel. I am going to be watching this..

Yeah, I can see them using one of CC's Premium Choice services if they switch.

Thats CC, the only station left thats local is KBOS.
Everybody other company, has local programming(For some outside the morning show), Peak, Lotus, Wilks, Buckley and KJWL.
KALZ has Ryan Seacreast in the afternoon, KSOF has John Tesh, KHGE has one of those services, and now( in 8 days) 103.7 The Beat.

Will the HD channel go away too? Or will the new station inherit that?

NO, they will not do that, I'm thinking the Active Rock format could move to one of CCs secondary HD channels, maybe 96.7 (.2) which has been a R&B Old School Format.

To answer twice, 103.7 will still have HD, I know why you are asking the question it has to do with 103.9 KDJK, when i make my deliveries north of Herndon, where 103.7 signal is bad I get 103.9 on Friant Road, Ft Washington, International, Copper, Perrin and Chaimplain.

Gee! That's too bad!!! I was hoping that would go away too!

You're a real smart guy! How did you know where I was going with that? ;D

I get the Hawk on the northern edge of Fresno too...Not clear but ok.

Yes, HD (IBOC) is a nightmare for us DXers on adjacent channels, I used to get 95.5 KLOS in Clovis with my directional Ant. with my Yamaha system before KJFX added HD. At lease i can still DX 99.7 KIOO and KDFO 98.5 with no problem, and on some good days I can get KZOZ 93.3 from SLO.

You keep mentioning you have a directional antenna that you are using. It must work pretty well to get 99.7, 98.5 The Fox and 95.5 KLOS at one time. What model antenna do you have? ???

I have a old directional Radio Shack 110 miler in my garage. I have not used it for awhile. Radio has discontinued (like a lot of good things) that model antenna. I have seen some on the internet and they are like twleve feet long and probably can go close to 200 miles.
