RIP Larry Levite

Buffalo Broadcasting Hall of Famer Larry Levite passed tonight. I never worked for Larry. But I did interview him on his election to the Hall. I'm reflecting on 40 years ago. WBEN's management was making a mess of things. They were branding the station as "93BEN." Lame! Clint Buehlman was forced to retire. Stan Barron was fired. A legacy station was floundering. Larry buys WBEN. He rehires Stan. Clint is brought back on Sunday mornings. For the next 15+ years, WBEN is the market leader. Most recently, Larry was the owner of our region's premier lifestyles magazine, Buffalo Spree. What an impact this man had on our community! Condolences to his family and his colleagues at Spree.
