RIP Pulse 87

Has there been any station id's, sweepers, or any indication of what it is, or is it simply cold music segues? Also, are we sure it's still WNYZ's signal and not a pirate that popped up after Pulse signed off? Did the signal ever go off completely?

Maybe Tony knows what's up since he was there, and will post soon.

No it didn't, it just went right to some 'Back in USSR' song.

Tony posted in another thread on down the page earlier today that he was hearing rumors of a big announcement at 6PM today of some kind. Maybe we'll hear something or get some info soon on what is up. Maybe someone else is leasing 87.7 and keeping dance on the air? Or maybe someone else will flip or adjust formats. Who knows?

The last song for Pulse 87 on air & webstream at about 4:57pm was "Back In The U.S.S.R." by The Beatles from the album "The Beatles" (better known as the "White Album" due to its all snow white cover) released in 1968. A reference to the programming that was on the frequency before the switch to Pulse 87. Possibly going back to Russian brokered programs? We'll see..

Meanwhile at about 5:10pm on air (after 10 mins. of silence), there was a brief Station ID by a male voice: "WNYZ New York" followed by cold segues from one dance music tune to another - sounds like its streamed/lower sound quality as other posters pointed out. Also as others have said, the WNYZ-LP web audio stream is also running dance music, but different from the on-air version. We'll see how long this all lasts.

Web audio here: http://radiotime.com/WebTuner.aspx?StationId=68216& (takes a while to load up)

Just heard the Pulse 87 station ID online

92.3 Now has announced Pulse is gone a couple of times and told listeners "welcome to our family"... that was cool of em.

Sorry for not posting sooner....obviously things have gone VERY crazy within the past hour.

Here's the breakdown.

1) Pulse 87 is STILL streaming on the Internet.
2) Someone is transmitting dance music on the 87.75 frequency with a cold "WNYZ - New York" voiceover.

I called up Pulse 87 around 5:30 and they're partying over there as they are officially off the air. But for the 87.7 transmission, I HAVE NO IDEA what is going on here and I'm getting flooded over on the Facebook side trying to figure this out. ???

I'm trying to get whatever info as I can

Now it's time for them to step up the dance adds since they can fill a void for a bit!

The audio on 87.7 can't be pirate. I'm nearly an hour out of NYC to the NW and am hearing the same thing and the static patterns i run into on the drive home are the exact same. The audio itself is really low volume and quality (64K?) and definitely mono source (still ST broadcasting). It's certainly a filler to something.

I said a while back when Pulse announce it financial problems that NOW could benefit much from a crossover rhythmic audience that is dance friendly.NYC really lacks a true chr rhythmic station. This is NOW's chance to tweak and gain some of the cume from Pulse.

It is wierd. At around 6:20 p.m. they played one of my favorites "Tiesto - I will be here (Wolfgang Gartner mix)".

They may be running strictly off the TV transmitter, that may be why the audio is poor.

The "landlord" must be streaming music to keep the signal alive until whoever is taking over the signal starts broadcasting.
