I saddened to report the loss of longtime Richmond-area broadcaster Terry Sisisky to stomach cancer at age all too young age of 58.
Terry, while best known for being the voice of VCU Rams basketball for 28 years, only missing 3 games in that long span, was also a tireless supporter of local high school sports, calling countless high school football and basketball games, and tournaments, especially involving the Petersburg High School Crimson Wave.
But he also was the morning man on WHAP-AM, Hopewell for years, in radio sales, and most of all, standard-bearer of one of the most infectious, positive personalities anyone could ever have. I only wish I had 10 percent of the energy that carried T-Man, as his friends called him, through his life and his thousands of broadcasts. He had even, in the past two years, blazed a trial on the Internet, doing everything from high school sports to the annual BIB Baseball Tournament in Colonial Heights online at Terrysisisky.com.
Terry was one of the truly great people in Richmond radio. I'm so glad he was elected into the Richmond Broadcasters Hall of Fame while living, so he could know just how much we all loved him.
I know that I, personally, will never do another sports broadcast again without thinking about him, and thanking God that I had the honor of working with him.
