RIRHOF Class of 2010 Announcement

I was thinking if the ceremony were on a Friday or Saturday night instead of a Thursday people might be more apt to stay later, but then again this isn't really that late an affair in the first place and only morning drive radio people really have to up very early. In a nutshell I think some people just like to be sure they make an appearance rather than actually see and hear everything that goes on.

I would agree. Make it a Friday night affair. I was there as a guest of Steve McDonald's, so I was determined to see his induction. And while I would have loved to stick around for the others, the reality is, 4 a.m. wake-ups are brutal. I'm generally asleep by 9 every night. But Steve's presentation didn't wrap up 'till 9:45, and by the time I got home and got settled, I wasn't asleep until just about midnight. That made for a pretty rough Friday, and there are plenty of morning drive types others in the industry who are undoubtedly in the same situation.

John, you know I think you guys do a great job with the ceremony. I just noticed it more this year than last and 5-6 inductees might cut down on some of the early departures. As you said, you are inevitably going to get "What about so & so!?!" as even in a perfect world, you aren't going to please everyone all the time.
I love the suggestions coming from people who haven't attended one of the ceremonies, Thursday night still appears to be a good night as you said there were 5 more tables than last year....As I spoke with you at the ceremony, let me know if I can help in any way!

Not sure why this would make a difference. A good idea is a good idea no matter where it comes from.

Suggestions duly noted - thanks. I will bring them all up at our next meeting. What about the possibility of moving the ceremony to a Saturday or Sunday, say, at 5pm? It's all about facility availability, but I'm sure we could find a suitable place, if not the West Valley Inn - which has been very good to us.

Ted - thanks for reaching out. It does help if you've been to one of these over the past three years, as it should, in theory, give you a better perspective on the evenings' arrangements. But suggestions are suggestions...some good, some not so. I'll listen to all of them. ;)

Just wanted you to know that photos from the induction night on May 13th are now posted on the site - if you haven't attended before, take a look to see what you're missing!

Our board takes the summer off, and will reconvene in the fall to begin considering the Class of 2011. If you'd like to have a say, I highly recommend becoming an Associate Member, as you'll get the chance to have your nominations considered, and also submit a ballot to vote on upcoming classes.

Tentative date for next year - May 12, 2011!
