Rivendell: audio codecs

I'm testing Rivendell@home. While feeding the DB with audio I saw the amount of free time on the hd decreasing in a suspicious manner. Seems that the software is sucking the audio in a plain *.wav format
I've changed the format to the other available (mpeg2) at the host manager/rdlibrary encoder settings. The audio won't budge. I see the waveform but the player freezes. How can fix that?
Another question: where do the audio files go? My first thought was that the audio files that RD played were the actually the ones I inserted. Testing it (removing actual audio files to mess the database) I saw that the songs keep playing. Where are the RD audio files located?...

Not sure about your import issue, I'll look at mine...but the audio files go wherever your SQL database is setup.

Rivendell importing is easier if you setup a drop box...but make sure you tell it what kind of file it's importing or it will just sit there smoking cigars when you think it's working.

Use one type of music file...Rivendell will not run two type at the same time...If you start with a wav file, it will play them right, the mpeg 2's either worn play, or will play back strange... stick with whatever you choose, and you'll be fine... also, go to the wiki..

Obviously, I am going to vote for linear .wav files... Not only do they sound better, they take overhead and codecs out of the loop.

Default location for the audio is /var/snd/ and the files are named by cart number-cut number.wav such as 100000-1.wav
