river is on 943

The simulcast is most likely a temporary thing. Extending WWRR's signal via 94.3 does nothing but duplicate Lackwanna County coverage and extends The River into Wayne County which is not part of the 5 county W-B/Scr metro and so will do nothing to help the numbers. One explanation for the simulcast could be in the contract that following closing none of the agreements, such as those to carry Tesh, etc, would be applicable to Bold Gold. If a new format were not ready in time when Bold Gold closed on the deal then it is better to simulcast, and then when you've got all your ducks in a row, debut a new format on 94.3.

What I can't figure out is why Citadel sold off 94.3 in the first place. A 93.7/94.3 simulcast makes perfect sense and dates back to the Cool 94 days when now Bold Gold's Bob V was involved with WSGD as it began its simulcast onto new sister-station WDLS. It covered both Scranton and Wilkes-Barre very well and was not unlike the 92.1/100.1 simulcast of today signal-wise.

The AM stations are off the air temporarily and when up again will have new formats.

WCDL operates at 1440 kHz and WNAK at 730 kHz.

The FM station is on, but it is temporarily simulcasting Bold Gold’s 105 The River. A new format will replace WLNP’s Lite 94.3.

NXEA,

Citadel had to sell 94.3 as changing FCC market cap rules limited a station owner to 5 FM's within their city of license within a metro county of a market. It was government forced.

The lowdown: 94.3 will go TALK in about a month...The AM's which are off the air, will be brought back with all sports talk ???

Maybe Fox News Talk For Their National Hosts? ... Think There Are Going To Have Local Shows?

Talk???? most likely from Sat's.

This is what deregulation brought owning as many stations as possible, many in the same markets. People loose jobs due to simulcast or automation? Give me the old days anytime. I feel sorry for the young people in this business today.
