RIVIERA LMA ???

What does "LMA" stand for?

Local Marketing Agreement. The owner/licnesee of a station gives the day to day management, programming and sales to another entity. The licensee is still responsible for all matters of compliance in programming and technical areas.

You nailed it Jay.... "Beasley Takes Over Two More In Las Vegas http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive. Wonder if Beasley will blow up KVGS and flip it to something else?

Might Beasley take KDWN's programming to KVGS and sell 720? Could they ever sell it for enough money to match the crazy price they paid for it and wipe the debt? Either way, the people I talk to say KVGS will definitely flip to a new format and the Oasis will stick with its current format.

why would they flip either station's format? They are both on a roll ratings wise....
Beasley is getting a great deal on the stations at the right time.

AND I BELEIVE THE ENTITY HAS TO COMMIT TO EVENTUALLY BUYING THE STATION.

David is correct. There is no requirement that the party LMA'ing a station has to commit to buying it, though that's usually what happens.

I thought that might be the case here because it came thru a bankruptcy court. Either way its a good move for Beasley. I bet they got them cheap.

It did not go through bankruptcy court. The lender was operating the stations but it was not in bankruptcy.

$8.5 million is the rumored price. I'd say that's pretty cheap. I seem to remember Riviera paid quite-a-bit more for the two stations!

The 2005 sale from Desert Sky to Riviera is listed as being a $38 million cash deal, with $2 down and the rest at closing.

WOW ! Relative to todays economy with the better signals thae are more valuable. Also thanks for the lma info . I understand now.

That is a shocking drop! Does this set a record for the largest decline in price between sales?

Also, remember that Beasley sold NOW and KBET last year for $15.25 million....so essentially they traded those 2 signals for about $7 million and the 2 stations from Riviera. They should be able to make enough off KOAS alone to make this deal a financial home run.....however, it is Beasley we're talking about, so lets see what happens in the long run.
