RiVo

I know, it's not about reception.

Of course, these days it sort of is. I'd like to be able to tape Paul Harvey, or anything else, when I want. Then I wouldn't have to be concerned about whether the station taped it, or about whether I could pick up the signal.

When I got a TV/VCR with FM, I thought I could, but in fact, it wouldn't tape FM. Now the FM station no longer does Paul Harvey (though that's how I ended up here).

They have TiVo for TVs. Why not the same for radio?

Only place I have seen such a thing is for Satellite Radio and even there , it is bare bones functionality, i.e. not like TiVO

You can time record with Adobe Audition, otherwise, there's a program called "Aircheck" which is 99.00.

have fun.

Take a tape record output from your tuner & patch it to the audio input of a VCR. It should (*should*) record the radio audio along with the TV video.

Total Recorder (http://www.highcriteria.com/) will allow you to set a schedule for recordings. A number of DXers (myself included) use it to record across the top of the hour all night in the hopes of catching AM IDs. For program length recordings this will take a LOT of disk space, be sure to install & use either the MP3 or OGG plugins, that'll make a BIG difference.

Thanks for all the suggestions. One little detail: I don't have a computer. Or a lot of money. I have a neighbor who gets her lights to turn on at night whether she's home or not. Perhaps I can set up something like that for myself.

A few cassette recorders had a switch that would cause them to immediately go into record when the power is turned on. You could plug one of them into a light timer, like the one your neighbor has.

Yeah, that's what I may have to do. I'm going to the mountains in a couple of months and I don't have much luck remembering to me near a radio when "The Rest of the Story" is on, plus I haven't figured out when the station there does it.

Okay, I just bought the timer ...

One problem: it promises not to turn your lights on at the same time each day, so it'll really look like you're there. Yeah, that's very useful. ::) Maybe the directions will tell me how to override that, if I ever figure out how to get the thing open.
