Rizzoli & Who?

Get used to hearing the name "Rizzoli & Isles." The modern-day "Cagney & Lacey" series, which stars Angie Harmon and Lorraine Bracco, not only proved strong enough to retain the audience from its lead-in on TNT, "The Closer," but its ratings have even fared better than "Closer" in some areas.

That's correct. Bracco has a small supporting role as Angie Harmon's mother. The Sasha Alexander character - a Medical Examiner - is the most interesting. Alexander plays the character as awkward socially and nerdy (but beautiful, of course). In the first episode, she ruins a first-date by telling him he has a serious disease (based on her on the spot diagnosis, none of which is very complimentary).

Other than this, the show is a fairly run-of-the-mill cable mystery/action/suspense series of the type we've come to expect from TNT and USA.
