RKO Propaganda attempting to defend Rush Limbaugh

got someone's mass e mail about RKO defending Rush today. Isn't that an abuse of the airwaves - to go on the defensive for their own (albeit syndicated) programming when the embattled Limbaugh has already faced the Denny's Parking Lot scandal, the contraband at customs and now the Phony Soldiers routine.

Fascinating how Ted Findburg didn't seem to care that Limbaugh isn't a veteran, or that his dark and destructive humor (the 12 year old girl he insinuated was "the white house dog" says it all) does nothing to support our troops.

This is all about supporting Limbaugh. Findburg claims this is the Democrats getting payback for the General Betrayus ad. The reality is that the conservatives are using Limbaugh (and giving him hype in hopes people tune in--- which they won't; stick a fork in Rush, he's all done) so people don't talk about real issues

like this egg on Bush's face:

http://www.ajc.com/news/content/business/stories/2007/10/02/BLACKWATER03_COX.html

WASHINGTON - House Democrats assailed the chairman of Blackwater USA on Tuesday, saying the giant security contractor is overcharging taxpayers and undermining the U.S. mission in Iraq through conduct one lawmaker called "reckless."

I heard the unedited Limbaugh tape in which he says phony "soldiers" plural not "soldier" as he later edit the tape to play on Armed Forces Radio.

What do expect from a brain on loan from Oxycontin.

Some discussion of this on Hannity and Hendrie's shows...
"Talent on Loan from Oxy Contin", yes, but he has about 540 more stations than Air America has.

Radio Equalizer: "Let's get real: what was Mays supposed to do, cancel his most popular and profitable programing just to replace him with more money- losing liberal talk radio?"
http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com

Is the Democrat-led Congress popularity rating down to 11 per cent or what?

This is much ado about nothing! The only thing Rush did wrong was to do a poor job of defending himself.

Here's the chronology:

Last Tuesday morning (9/25): Rush runs a "Morning Update" where he profiles an "Army Ranger" who made accusations about atrocities that were allegedly committed by US Troops. Really horrible stuff like burning bodies in mosques, etc. The man eventually became a hero to the anti-war groups and was "enlisted" to talk at many of their gatherings. Unfortunately, it was all a lie because this guy never even made it through boot camp. He quit after 44 days. In the end, he is a disgruntled washout - and a fraud. He was never a soldier.

Last Wednesday afternoon (9/26): A caller makes reference to the above-mentioned guy as a "phony soldier" and Rush echoes that comment. Two minutes and sixteen seconds later (after the call), Rush actually stops himself to clarify (for those who didn't hear the previous day's "Morning Update") by restating the previous day's "Morning Update" story.

It was that individual that was referred to - specifically - as a "phony soldier," which is what he has been convicted (in Federal court) of being. It was not slander, as the allegation was proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The man was a fraud who's statements may have endangered (or cost) American lives in the Middle East.

In the end, Media Matters conveniently pulled the words "Phony Soldier(s)" completely out of context. Put it in context and you'll see that this is a pure BS excuse that is being used to muzzle a talk show host. It is as simple as that. We heard the tapes here - it is as I just cited it above. Listen to it (all) and you'll see that there is no room for debate here. This is absurd.

The trouble is that none of these lunkheads in the Senate actually heard the whole thing. They don't listen to the show and are, instead, citing Media Matters' web site. And, Harkin's drug reference was reprehensible. By criticizing a radio host (instead of doing his job), Harkin came off looking and sounding like an a$s.

Plain and Simple : Rush Limbaugh is a LIAR ! ! !
Limbaugh EDITED the tape which played on Armed Forces Radio to eliminate the plural "soldiers" which he said live on-air to play on the edited tape the singular "soldier".

That is evidence enough that Limbaugh was at least trying to cover his tracks. Kinda reminds one of something Richard Nixon did with the 18 Minute Gap in the Oval Office Tapes !

At least Don Imus was man enough to admit what he said was wrong and not alter the tapes. Imus apologized and lost his job.

Yup, that is the American way ! Lie and you get to keep your job and all the Oxycontin that money can buy.

Hope they keep the pressure up. This might be the end of the beginning of the fall of the fat man.

Pure and simple Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) is a LIAR too! Lied about his Vietnam record...

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_100207/content/01125108.guest.html

>>because this guy never even made it through boot camp

Rush as usual is driving the libs nuts...yes he doctor shopped and took oxys despite earlier
on-air pronouncements saying "drug users should be thrown in jail" so he's a hypocrite but
others can be hypocrites too

>>This might be the end of the beginning of the fall of the fat man.

Don't count on it. He will survive, as will Mr. and Mrs. Bubba (even if Her Highness doesn't get
elected she'll stay in the Senate--and the Curse of Hillary will continue too--no NY sports
team has won it all since she proclaimed herself a lifelong Yankee fan & got elected first time to Senate)

The libs are licking their chops, expecting Premiere to say Rush is gone any minute now. So what?
He'll syndicate himself and be on the same 600 stations.

Read that letter from Mark Mays of Clear Channel--he will not muzzle free speech. Free, accurate, speech.

Sorry, that diversion will not work.

The question is : What Did Rush Limbaugh Say, And When Did He Say It ?

BRNout is right. Casablanca is right on occasion (most recently about Howie's situation). I won't go so far
as to say _I_ am always right but I hope I'm right once in awhile :)

According to Tom Taylor's column today, reflecting the TALKERS numbers:

>>Rush is still #1 at about 13.25 million in minimum weekly 12+ cume (all numbers rounded off to the nearest quarter million).

No wonder the libs hate him.
Other leading talkers include Sean "You're A Great American", Michael "The Liberal VERMIN!!",
Dr. "I Like To Pose in the Nude", Glenn "Conservative But Not Necessarily Republican" and
Laura "Shut Up And Buy My New Book".

Mark "get off the phone you big dope" is up there too, and:

>>Then Mike Gallagher and Michael Medved at about 3.75 million each.

So why the low numbers for WTTT?

And yeah, there's a lib or two in there, like Sgt Schultz who is tied with Bill Talking Points.

[EDIT]

The tapes I heard did not come from Limbaugh or his syndicator. They did not come from Armed Forces Radio (God only knows where THAT reference entered your head). They represented what was carried on-air on our local affiliate. It's what went out.

So sorry that the truth doesn't fit your angry little paradigm. 8)

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Nice try Casablanca.

Not that I would ever subscribe to Rush's 24-7 business, because I think it's a waste of money. But for those who do, he makes available for download the entire show at the end of the day. Which means that on the day he made the comments about the wash-out, all the subscribers heard the comments in their original entirety. If he had edited the tape (which he has not), it would be apparent to everyone, because it did not become an issue to media matters until the next day at least.

When you come right down to it, it's beginning to look like "Army Ranger" Jesse Macbeth has duped both the leftist radio bloggers right along with the reporters who fell for his story........ :D

The Question Remains : The Limbaugh Tape was edited from the plural "soldiers" to the singular "soldier" who edited it and why?

What did Rush Limbaugh know and when did he know it?

How could Rush Limbaugh's people edit the tape from "soliders" to "soldier" after it had been released to all of his subscribers on the day that the show aired? That was done before this started to become an issue a few days later, so there is no way they would've known to edit the show before sending it.

In point of fact, he's fine with 'soldiers.' There are eight documented instances of 'phony soldiers' in the state of Washington alone. It's not just a Jesse Macbeth issue. So, parse words all you like: 'soldiers' is what he said, and it's the truth

The Question Remains : The Limbaugh Tape was edited from the plural "soldiers" to the singular "soldier" who edited it and why?

Each would be equally correct, so it really doesn't matter. Just another what-color-is-my-parachute obfuscation.

What did Rush Limbaugh know and when did he know it?\\

Know what, that Jesse MacBeth was a fake? Well, everyone who had ever been in the military knew he was the minute they saw his picture and heard his BS story. Limbaugh undoubtedly knew when MacBeth got 5&3 from the judge for faking his DD-214 and trying to illegally claim veterans benefits.

The more interesting question is when did Jesse MacBeth realize he wasn't an Army ranger, before or after he flunked out of basic training? Before or after Thomas Beauchamp signed an affidavit stating that the stories he had peddled to The New Republic were lies? All we know for certain is that it was well after Tom Harkin, one of Limbaugh's attackers in the Senate, realized he wasn't a combat pilot in VN.

Seems that everyone who looks at this has no problem understanding who Limbaugh was discussing. Except, that is, the usual suspects, whose stock in trade is not understanding.

Regards,
TSB

I don't think anyone was asking that Clear Channel remove, suspend or fire him, that would be bad business and violating his first ammendment rights.
I believe from what I have heard was that people wanted Clear Channel to say that it was unfortunate what was said and that they don't support the "Phony soldiers" remark and we support the troops, all the right stuff to say that in turn makes them look good.
Now that he's edited the tape and Clear Channel has backed him as they have they look just as responsible for the "phony soldier" remark.
The "he has more stations than Air America" stinks of a school yard mentality like "my dad can beat up your dad!" come on boys & girls! let's be adult & intelligent and come up with a better comeback than that.

I've heard the tape, the UNEDITED tape and viewed the transcript.
What Limbaugh was referring to was any soldier that speaks out against the war at all, that's what the phony soldiers remark was about.
It's amazing how willing Rush lovers are to go to bat and aid in defending him when the written record and the audio record of what was said is so clear.
As far as the Senators criticizing Limbaugh, true enough that they have more important things to accomplish but were you saying the same thing when they condemned the Move on people for the Betray us ad?
Which to me was much ado about nothing, just a clever political ad that Bush policy protectionists were bothered by.

He initially said phony soldiers, then tried to pull it off as though he was speaking of one specific person. He lied.

Stop spinning it.
