'RKO: Savage, then Doyle at night

For a few days it seems that WRKO was moving Michael Savage to 7 pm due to 10 pm Celtics games.
But tonight Savage aired at 7 and no Celts game was scheduled! Apparently a new time slot?
After him came Jerry Doyle, another Talk Radio Network show (ironically enough, the competition
at 10 pm includes TRN's Ingraham on 'TKK). 'RKO had run him on Saturday nights but now I guess they're
adding his daily show.

At least I think they are--no change to website yet. Was this just for tonight? Probably not...
as for Feinburg, maybe it's he who got the 9-noon slot that had been DePetro's.

I would have thought they'd go for Glenn Beck from Premiere, but Beck's show originally airs at 9 am
ET, while Doyle I believe is at 3 pm--so while either show would have been delayed, Doyle's is merely
delayed by 7 hours, not 13. (I remember when 'RKO dumped Hannity for Savage; one reason they gave is they
wanted a show that would be "live" and more timely (at that time Savage's feed was 7-10 pm, IIRC;
now it's 6-9 pm)

I think the TRN networks are barter--pick up the show as long as you run the ads. If this lineup stays,
Red Sox games will most likely lead into Doyle rather than the acerbic Savage...

Not only that, but when they carry him 7-10 ET, while his live hours are 3-6 PT, the hours are broadcast out of order on many stations like WRKO. Some markets carry him for four hours: KNEW, WTNT, KFMB and KSTE, for example).

Glenn Beck is on Premiere, and at first I thought maybe they didn't carry his show because WRKO didn't have a deal with them. But Premiere carries Hush Bimbo, Drudge on Sundays and Coast to Coast AM to name a few, plus Handel on the Law over on WTKK.

Curiously enough I just heard them run a promo for Savage and it said weeknights at 10. Either they haven't
updated the promo yet or the past few nights are just them tinkering with the lineup on a short-term
basis. (I remember back when 'TKK had Severin and Hannity; when Severin was on vacation, they aired
Hannity live and Hannity's slot would be filled by something like radio rewinds of Eagan and Braude or
Barnicle, then Hannity would go back to his tape delayed 10 pm airing once Severin got back....)

Yup, Savage's hours would be out of order. Beck IS carried Sat nights on 'RKO (when there's no
sports like Revolution)

>>>Either they haven't

yup, save $$$ on fill-ins at night

I still wonder if Tom Finneran is in the mix; weren't they waiting for his perjury trial (this month) to get over
and, if he doesn't serve time, he might do that morning show? In which case Feinburg would go back to 7 pm.
Still no official word from Entercom about changes.

>>>I still wonder if Tom Finneran is in the mix;

don't think so

Yup. I think the Entercom folks are mostly concentrating on the fact that the Sox (and on some nights the
Celts) will be on at 7 pm, and the syndie talk shows are merely filler for those nights when there are no
games (or rainouts) so why plug a local person into those slots? ('BZ does do local talk from 8 pm on...WTKK
is also doing syndie post- 7 pm, with the exception of Barnicle replayed at midnight. At which point my dial
will move to another Greater Media station...for After Midnight on country 102.5 :)

WRKO should have dumped Savage AND Limbaugh

Frees up money to pay for those all-important Red Sox rights. WRKO has to pay cold hard cash to carry Savage and Limbaugh because their fascist views scare off major advertisers.

Speaking of Mr. Oxycontin, WRKO is dumb to farm out Red Sox day games to WEEI-850 in order to carry him. WABC dropped the Yankees because Limbaugh complained about being pre-empted -- and WABC had been the Yankee flagship for 21 years!

KSTE does not. A few stations have moved to air 4 hours of Savage, most recently the upcoming WYTS/Columbus, OH.

What do you mean, "WRKO doesn't have a deal with them"? All they have to do is pick up the phone. Premiere clears Rush separately and generally doesn't use that as bearing for other shows or vica versa. How WTKK's relationship with Premiere comes in eludes me. Premiere is an a l carte syndicator, unlike AAR... take what you want, and whatever's left, we'll put on somewhere else. Fortunately, though it seems like Doyle is just a fill-in; since WRKO clears his Saturday show, nobody else can clear his weekday show. The WRKO lineup is looking like WTBA.

True, but the fourth hour is just a repeat hour. I'm listenting to the 4th hour on KNEW now, and he's talking to Gen. Alexander Hague.

Yes but you're talking about something other than a knee-jerk reaction, so I'm not holding my breath ???

Hey, check it out.... Another 'RKO thread!
That makes what, 3 in 4 days?

For a station that is supposedly isn't so good, they sure have a lot of listeners who are on this board...

Well, I figured I'd update people on what they're doing at night...And yes, Savage was back
at 10 last night after Celtics. They're consistently inconsistent.

btw while it's probably unlikely that they'll hire him, it looks like Tom Finneran will be available to
do a show after all. On Ch 7 news they said word had it that the former House Speaker will
plead guilty to perjury charges and receive a suspended sentence with a fine; no jail time.
So if 'RKO did want him...
