RMS Close to Radio Perfection

I love Russ's show, the cast, most of the content, and the Bits.

G'Dmn good radio!

RMS hit the goal with me - I feel like I know each of them. I like each of them. And with that friendship, (even though as just a listener)I can forgive the not so sensitive aspects of their personality - I don't ostracize someone for eternity because they say a couple of things I don't agree with.

So if the rest of his listeners are FANS and not just casual visitors (TSL would indicate as such) they probably can roll with things as well.

I would not discount that ol'Russ probably told his listeners to also post on this site, and praise him to the four winds of cow flatulence.

Why does just the screen name "DFWRadioWatch" remind me of that "Harold" character from the Christian Coalition bunch of zealots back a couple of years ago!

Oh wait, that was just a "bit" too!

Hummmmm, I don't remember that segment commanding listeners to post on Radio-Info about wind and cow methane. But I do remember on 105.3 today I heard where he talked about how the account for the family of fallen officer Hank Nava jr. was coming along, and where people could add to it's total. Then there was something about spinning the wheel of pain, and having to lick a PD's hairy mole. Then there was the music I heard over on the Edge, 92.5, & Jack during the commercial breaks, but nothing about cow grumpys and this site ......

Then Lycus talked about D.T.B......

Also I heard P&K today talk about.....uummmm, they spoke abou......ahhhh, humm...imagine that, didn't hear them all this week, or last week, or this month, go figure (LOL)

Re: RMS Close to Radio IMPerfection

I had a personal conflict with Russ Martin.

He personally called me "the biggest 'F-up' he's ever met in his 25 years of broadcasting.

I don't like him. I think he's very mean, and his show is extremely mean spirited. On the show and off, he surrounds himself with lawyers, doctors, real estate people, people that can give or provide free things, and even the police and firemen to provide a personal buffer and an arsenal when needed. He also uses Operation Kindness as a shield for consistently unkind behavior, and as fuel for his adage: "Good deeds make more of an impact when they come from an 'a-hole.'"

But the man is brilliant. None of you can deny it. He made a show where he can do exactly what he wants with the exactly the people he wants to work with. He makes lots of money for himself and for Infinity, so management and corporate are forced to leave him alone and let him do a show exactly the way he wants to do it. He continually and consistently retains the highest ratings and overall TSL's. He is the only person in DFW who can make the program director a cast member, and consistently portray him as a buffoon, and get away with it. He is the only person in DFW that can call his own idol, Ron Chapman, a "bag of pis*," and still get him to come on his show.

Other people and some other shows have been forced to present themselves as idiots just to get scraps from the table of cross-promotion, by allowing Russ to make total fools of them. Who else can do that?

Again, I personally stand nothing to gain by praising him. But we can learn alot from him. He is the only one in this market who has made a radio show NOT sound like a radio show. Who else in this market has made a show wherein changeover of personnel and turnover of show "cast members" have not affected the pinnacle of ratings?
