Roady 2 design defect

The Roady 2 has a design defect with the power connector. It's tack soldered to the circuit board and on all four Roadys of mine the solder conenctions have let loose after a few months. If you have good soldering skills (and a small tip on your iron), you can solder it back, saving the cost of a new radio. The symptom is intermittent power/operation.

While you're at it, solder a 16 inch wire to the internal FM antenna right where the remote control sensor is (black dot to right of display) and run it outside the case. This will improve the FM signal dramatically. The internal antenna is easy to find, it's a metal band that runs along the perimeter of the case.

I got power problems the first day. I dropped Roady2 for MyFi in December so I guess it doesn't matter anymore.<P ID="signature">______________

I have had my Roady2 for over 1 1/2 years now and it still works fine.

I have had mine sine they came out. I have moved it everyday between my home and my car and the connector is still solid. Maybe your being too rough with it, or maybe mine is soldered with titanium. Who knows.
