Roady2 Personal Audio System

Circuit City had them on sale for 80 bucks, and I figured that the MyFi was too expensive for me to get (and mom thinks that XM is a waste of money).

Sound quality is crap - but thats XM. I'm suprised at how good the FM radio is - pulling in WOBM here in Western Monmouth Co (Millstone) without a problem, and a a resticted fidelity WNEW next to WMGK.

Anyone else have this Personal Audio System for the Roady 2?
______________

I bought the Roady 2 for my truck (for $29 at Best Buy) and had it professionally installed. You are right, the sound quality is crap. I also have a reocurring static problem through the FM modulator and it ocurrs on whatever, FM radio frequency I am tuned to. At this point I am thinking I have a defective Roady. This is quite suprising because Delphi doesn't put out crappy products.

I'm surprised. I bought a Roady 2 for my father's truck last Christmas, installed it ourselves and it sounds better than my SkyFi 1 which was proffessionally installed, though not by much.

Are you using the wireless FM modulator, or the wired FM modulator? The wired is really the only way to go. I've got my SkyFi running through a wired FM modulator and the sound quality is nothing short of BEAUTIFUL. Crystal clear. Sounds like the bands/artists/orchestras are right there in the car with you.
______________

I picked mine up last night at my local Wal-Mart for.. now get this, because it most definitely was a steal... $49!!!! Thats right, $49... Every other wal-mart store here in my area as well as Walmart.com has it for $120, but I got it for $49.. Anywho, I ahven't really tested out the FM part, but I love being able to listen to my unit via headphones here at my PC instead of on my stereo on the other side of the room. Getting XM last month was the ebst investment I've made, even better than my Siirus unit. Thecombined price for my XM Roady2 unit w/ car kit, the hoem kit and now the PAS was a little more than $100 combined, my Sirius reciever w/car kit and the home unit cost me more than that 6 months ago, when I was weighing the 2 services...

I think you may have a defective Roady 2. I have one, and, though it doesn't sound quite as good as FM, it has great sound quality.

Have you tried changing FM channels? I live near 88.5's tower in Atlanta and switched from the default of 88.3 to 88.9 and it sounds great. Also there is an additional product you can get from Delphi that helps boosts the signal for a Roady2.

Yes, quite a few and the static always comes back.
