89.1 - All talk Radio IQ moves here
92.3 - WXLK...K-Rock 92-3...Modern/Active Rock
93.7 - This one WILL be snatched up by CC and their "Sunny" will move here...102.7 will go country with 104.9
96.3 - 100% Classic Rock
100.1 - Urban...like "Power 100.1"
101.7 - See 107.9
106.1 - See 107.9
106.9 - Will drop Active rock and go talk with 105.9
107.1 - I'd love this station to get out of the hands of Clearview...then go as talk with WLNI
107.9 - Once 93.7 gets bought by CC, 'YYD's days will be numbered. Expect the current 'JJS simulcast to go urban-ish 'JJS, then 107.9 will go Top 40.

Just my two cents

WELL...K-92 will probably not change...I'd just like it too :)

As for 'YYD, the only reason why I think they're next is because of billing...I can assure you it has been slipping a bit, and with 104.9 going after 94.9 (Even speeding up the songs like 94.9...yuck) I can picture something happening

CC doesn't care about heritage stations...look at 102.1 in RIC...how about 100.7 in Raleigh? It's all about the money at CC

And WROV FM doesn't worry about ANY competition. Theres not a station in the valley that can match the call letters or history.
______________

WROV FM doesn't answer to CC. They answer to WROV. WROV has complete control over their playlist. Thats why you hear Southern Rock once in a while. CC knows better than to f..k with a moneymaker like WROV FM.
______________

Well if CC does not care about Hertiage stations then they could have killed WRVQ Q 94 here in Richmond last May (04). WHen they killed all jocks and after every song they played he phrase "Q 94 is dead.....listening at ______ time for more details." or something like that for about 4 days. But they did not kill the hrtiage just rebuilt it, and it is coming back up in the ratings.

Hey, no need to apologise. Believe me, no one was more surprised than me to find out ROV carries a lot of weight with CC. At last years ROV reunion, a bunch of us got the station tour with the PD Steve Curtis. ROV does rotate many Southern Rock type groups that are not typical CC material. But thats one of the many things that makes ROV the best album rock station in VA, in my humble opinion...that they can have a big say in playing material they know fits their audience.

I do think, for the most part, CC does has a standard playlist for all their formats. I don't know how much a station can change that, other than what ROV does.
______________

Yeah, I'm in Hampton, and the only thing I can pick up at my office job is The Fox. They play the same stuff over and over and talk too much. Wish I could pick up Bob FM in my office but they don't come in.

I'll be cranking up ROV FM in 2 weeks when I head to Roanoke for one of our reunions. This year we're dedicating the party to the memory of the great Fred Frelantz, who will be joining us in spirit, and toasting along with us in between his cosmic road show.
______________

NOOOOO...even though WVTF can get off onto a boring spree, we need someone to blast some classical into Greensboro (and Blacksburg) during the day without adjacent-channel interference (unlike 89.9 WDAV getting trounced by 90.1 WNAA).

WFDD (88.5) lost me completely when they dropped music during the day...

WROV is one of the few CC stations that I can stand to listen to for any length of time. Their liquid lunch is quite entertaining. Now if they could increase the power of their x-lator over Blacksburg so it can penetrate the faraday cages VT calls "dorms...", and maybe drop some of the new-rock stuff...

I know the chances of this happening are less than zero, but if I ruled the world, I'd put k92 on 610 and put the Vibe 100 xlator on 92.3. Or maybe shut if off during the summers so it stops dirtying up WKRR (shortspaced 92.3 in Asheboro, NC) throughout Greensboro...well...maybe leave it on during the morning show ;-)

WKRR is normally scratchy throughout Greensboro as a whole, and when you get even slight tropo, here comes K. Although it makes for some interesting mash ups, CHR vs. Classic Rock.

And at the risk of sounding like mister negativity, if AC weren't doing so well on Q, I'd put something a bit more...entertaining on their 200kW. Don't get me wrong, Q gets on a roll (and the fact that their commercials are offset from most Greensboro stations is a plus for me when not at school), but then they stick in a sappy song and kill the vibe.

Just my opinion, but obviously they're doing something right to be where they are in ratings.
Edited by vtjazy on 07/06/05 01:08 AM.
