No, I tend to think that 'YYD will not be #1 in country.
With the Bull draging a few listeners from Star in ROA (and
the few from 'YYD), Star will probably make #2 overall, and
'YYD will stay stagnant. I think, however, 'YYD has a few
things going for them:
1) They are the dominant station in
Lynchburg/Campbell/Amherst/Appomattox Co.
2) They are the 'heritage' station...hell, there are people
in Prince Edward and Amelia Co., who still listen to 'YYD
because they have been country since the late 70's when
there was nothing else around!
3) They are having to fight for ratings. Before Star, they
suffered from the "#1 Syndrome" (If you want an example of
#1 syndrome, check WIVK in Knoxville). 'YYD was a pretty
lousy station. Now that Star is #1, 'YYD needs to be good to
survive.
If anything, Star will be #1 because they will have Roanoke
(a larger city) hands down. 'YYD always has been more
Lynchburg oriented, and I tend to think CC should focus 'YYD
as a Lynchburg area station.

> Now, I hate to start rumors, BUT, I've heard that when the Bull dies, CC is trying to put Sports/Talk on the 104.9 stick. Also, maybe, possibly, taking Sunny off 102.7 in Lynchburg and putting a simulcast of the Sports/Talk 104.9 stick on there. From what I've heard, Sunny isn't very "sunny" in Lynchburg.
It will be interesting to see how that plays out!
