Robert R. Nelson, former owner of WBRD-AM 1420, WDUV-FM 103.3, WXLT TV 40 (Now WWSB ABC 7) all in Manatee / Sarasota counties passed away this morning following a short illness. He was preceded by his son Robert W. Nelson, who also managed the radio stations prior to his death, some time back.

Visitation set for Saturday @ Toale Bros Funeral Home, downtown Sarasota 5-8

I worked for the Nelson's on and off full and part time from the mid 1970's until just about when the sold the AM/FM combo in the 1990's to Clear Channel...

Did weekend news for one summer at WXLT also...

Never made a lot of money, but have GREAT memories that could never be duplicated in today's world...
