Robin

So where is Robin Marshall these days? She was an extremely talented part of K104 and one day she was gone! They now have a "sound like" Robin on the air. Was this one of those lets find somebody who sounds like a talent and pay them less money? Seems to me that somebody in Charlotte would have picked her up immediately.

Robin's still in town, but not on the radio. Too bad, she was definitely a plus at K-104.7. Radio's in a sad state when someone with her talent and experience is unable to find work in a market the size of Charlotte. But we've seen it happen before.

This is a group that knows what you want on the radio so this is not directed at any of you personally. Until the average listener gets better at articulating what they like and don't like on the radio this is what you get.....zip!

99% of the time when asked, people say they want less talk on the radio. Well the computer can run the music just fine without human intervention. So management is free to either buy cheap labor or no labor at all.

And yet, if you ask those same people do they like or identify with a personality on the radio, do they enjoy a personality's comments, a majority of them will say yes they do enjoy it.

It all depends on the questions asked, and how is is worded.

While I have heard the same thing about less talk, I also always hear people saying they enjoyed someone's comment, AND I have never heard anyone (except some management who want to cut costs at all costs) say that they wanted a "Jukebox" radio station, with nothing but music and advertisements.

if I just wanted a jukebox I would just listen to my iPhone.

I agree 100%, if I want jukebox, I will listen to my iPhone or CD's, have NO commercials and choose my own music.

If I am going to listen to commercials, then I want more than just music along with it.
