Robinson WTYE

So I hear that WTYE/WTAY are about to move under the Original company umbrella. Should be interesting to see how that works. The Linton deal has gone so smooth you know? :D

Sorry to hear that. WTYE/WTAY are Crawford County legacies. However, considering that they have to compete with Terre Haute, plus ownership getting up in age, it would not surprise me for it to be sold off.

Though I think T.O.C. could maximize their facilities far beyond what they do now, they do invest a load into the local community, businesses and charities.. Mark Lange will provide good local service... The main company office is down wind in Vincennes, IN.. So, it is not a long distant owner, but a nearby regional (Washington-Petersburg-Vincennes-Bicknell-Mt.Vernon/Evansville), just across the Wabash and down US-41 a few miles.... He and his group are far better a fit than a long distance owner... They ARE "Original"....

WTAY (I know the FM is WTYE, named for Jerry Tye, long time broadcaster on the station and former GM) has a great signal. I have heard it almost to Brazil on I-70 to the east, Effingham to the west. There is a lot of potential there. i just hope T.O.C. keeps the station local,(sports, visibile fixture in the county) and just doesn't throw on the bird and a 800 # on the phone line.

he will, without a doubt...

and probably this too.

studios will also likely move to Bruceville, or maybe Vincennes. MRL's all about consolidation and tight budgets.

Mark Lange is a lifer in the radio business. He has been in the trenches and built his empire with hard work from himself and his family. Jonathan is involved heavily. I think he deserves a lot of credit for what he has accomplished. I don't work for him.

Easy for those who envy someone or who covet what he has or has built to throw stones. Since many are hiding behind screen names and have some personal suggestions as to Lange's authenticity or motives I say leave it be.

He isn't like the owners who try to suck every drop of blood from the turnips that work for them. Money is always reinvested. Anyone else buying stations in Indiana?

He has moved the station to computers from cart machines. Who even has one these days? Yes the station is a local enigma but this can move into this century and still provide service.

This is close enough to Vincennes to manage efficiently and in a way that is responsible. The stations are clearly a local and I bet he keeps it that way.

They already have lots of satellite sports along with the local material. I see the station continuing the hometown feel and growing. Cool in the middle of gloom and doom boys.

I just hope they keep the live jocks & don't just toss yet another copy of a satellite feed on. I've never seen a listener go into a station & thank a satellite receiver for being there.

Chief, you are right about the sports. One night I was listening, they had an overnight sports show on straight from the bird. No ID's, spots..nothing local. Plus the music sucked. Never could figure out the format. Hell, couldn't even name the song. They defiantly needed upgrading. Just hope they can do that AND keep it local.
