Rocco DeMaro out as Bucco Postgame host

Reports today that Rocco DeMaro has been let go from his Pirates Post-Game gig.

Sorry to hear about this, especially after he had battled his way back from that head injury.
I always thought he did a fairly decent job, given what a thankless job it is to go on and field
calls after 90 or more Bucco losses for seven seasons. Perhaps they felt total burnout was
looming just around the corner?

For sure I would not have wanted to trade places with him after some of those games.
Here's hoping he lands on his feet.

What oh what will Samir from Ottawa, Canada do with his summers now??

I have a ten year old can of Save a Lot canned cream of potato soup that is more exciting than Greg Linelli. Sorry, but it's true.

Much more likely possibility is they just wanted to dump a salary. My only surprise is they didn't do it the day after the Pirates played their last game.

And so Rocco fades away as the result of a salary dump, as the result of covering a team
that has been one big, giant, two-decade long salary dump. Give me some time to let the irony
catch up with my brain....

So does this mean no Bucco post-game show next season, or do they just pull someone
already on their payroll to do it? Or does Dr. Winer take this opportunity to break into sports talk?

I must admit I smiled at that. ;D

620/770's own Michael J. Daniels was the fill-in host for Rocco this season. Perhaps they'll offer the job to
him permanently.

C.

I heard Michael J. Daniels filling in for Rocco. Did a fine job.

I'm not sure exactly what Rocco was doing for CC since baseball season ended. They seem to have other people to work the Steelers and Penguins shows.

Why is this a big deal for anyone but Rocco? If they want to, they can probably hire him as a freelancer when the season rolls around again.

Just wondering....when is the Pirate contract with CC up?

Wonder if this transaction actually took place last Thursday with the rest of the "12/9" CC cuts...

He was doing a sports show on Saturday afternoon on 104.7 . The afternoon that I flipped on to him, he was talking with some football stats guy. Rocco sure loves his numbers.

Rocco was funny, informative, creative and interesting to listen to. Greg Linelli is BORING!! Of course the Succos will choose Greg.

I agree that Rocco was different, which is perhaps the thing most sorely needed in radio today.

I had to cringe though when he came back from the injury and began referring to himself as
"The World's First Certifiably Brain Damaged Talk Show Host". Yeeeesh! Too rough for my tastes.
