What happened to the Rocco ripping off O&A thread? Was Ben Maxwell (a.k.a. Rocco) moderating that thread?

It is there, but it is closed. You can still see the posts by clicking the main post which is shown with a <strike>slash</strike> through it.

The thread was closed because is went to personal attacks.
Sorry, I can't say that Rocco is moderating the board (unless he somehow snuck in my apartment while I wasn't looking and jumped on my laptop).

well, he ( ben maxwell ) is a rip off of Vinnie The crumb, who incidentially is the in stadium announcer for the Philadelphia Barrage Lacrosse team that play down at Villanova stadium.

Just a few points I would like to make ( I am not looking to get this into a personal attack thread so anyone that respons on either side keep it civil

First off no O&A didn't invent getting various signs on the radio, no one is saying they have. However it is rather ironic that "Rocco" is using the exact same term for the contest word for word "Assault on the Media" that O&A have used, and its something they have used for years going back to when they were on WNEW alone pre-syndication (98 or 99) they may have even used it back when they were on AAF in Boston years before that. The contest in itself sure wasn't new, O&A didn't start it, but it was pretty pathetic on Rocco's part using the same tag line that O&A have used for years for that contest

The second part was regarding a comment that liseners don't know the difference between the two shows. Well thats completley false, just look at Boston ( & Philly as well) The main reason why Rocco got the boot in Boston is because when Opie & Anthony came back to Boston when they were syndicated on BCN they absolutley destroyed Rocco in the ratings. Rocco was doing pretty well before O&A came back, they come back his ratings drop like rocks & he winds up losing his job. Also this is a bit of pure speculation, but I highly doubt that Rocco is getting the ratings on Wired that Opie & Anthony were pulling on YSP

The "Rocco" that works mornings on Wired is not the same guy that was on in Boston. Philadelphia's Rocco is Ben Maxwell, an ex-member of the Barsky show that was on WMMR and 96.5 The Point.

I think you are referring to Rocko and Birdsey in Boston. I think they split and are no longer there. Rocco the Janitor is playing a different format than O and A. Them being on XM makes it even more unlikely both shows would be heard by the same listeners as they would have to pay for a radio and the service. Aren't O and A on mornings as well..same time as Rocco the Janitor?

All this over a mistaken Identity...

Nah Ethel, they are right. They are referring to Philly's own homeslice, Rocco the pretend urban janitor. Rocco is trying to get people to hold the Wired logo in some way shape or form on news reports or other arenas that involve television, He is calling it an "assault on the media". It is word for word the same thing O & A are doing to promote their XM show. It is the same thing MANY radio people try to to do. The original posters position was that while radio people "borrow" ideas on a daily basis, most of the time they at least change the name, or one or two componets of the idea. Rocco didn't change a thing.

Ya know, the only, and I mean ONLY place I have seen anything related to Rocco & the "Assault on the Media" phrase is by ya'll on this board. You do NOT see it refered to that way on the website, nor did I hear it that way on the air. Does anyone have anything that shows he used this phrase???<P ID="signature">______________

My mistake then I apologize. I haven't been much in the loop with O&A of late because I haven't gotten XM (due to finishing college last year & having job problems this year). I was under the assumption that Rocco the Janitor was the same Rocco from Boston (who had a habit of doing bits shortly after O&A did the same bit). I remember at one time seeing a post to that effect somewhere on the net (I guess that poster was wron)g.

To answer matt B's, question being in NY, I haven't heard the bit in Philly myself & I haven't been down in the Philly area since last year. I don't know for sure that the "Assault on the Media" term was used, but from what I have seen it seems like that was the case word for word. If the term wasn't used then its my mistake again from assuming too much. If it was used word for word it still brings up the question of why he would use the same exact phrase O&A used for 7 years which became pretty well known after the well publicized incident a few months back on WCBS 2 news in NYC

Oh for CHRISSAKES!

"jocko the j-off" never used the term "assault on the media"

Getting the Wired logo on TV was just ONE item in a scavenger hunt... a contest for 10 grand that bloody well ENDED last Monday. Please let this thread die... and let it go, people.

Exactly!

Yup you got it, Matt... See this for the deal:

http://www.wired965.com/contest_10000hunt.php

it lists 10 items in a 10 grand scavenger hunt. I wonder how many other stations around the country have done some of the same items. I'll bet quite a bit. Nowhere does it say assault on the media... This is the stupidest thread about the supidest thing done by a no-talent ass clown. :)

No Rocco the Janitor at Wired is not the same Rocko who competed against
O and A in Boston.
Rocco the Janitor (Ben Maxwell) here in Philly may be using their promotion but he did not compete with O and A in Boston. I don't think Ben Maxwell
(Rocco the Janitor on Wired) was ever working on a radio station in Boston.

So did somebody win the $10,000...?

Who was the poor pregnant woman they had to get to win the contest?
Maybe they went out and got somebody pregnant and used a clear blue easy test to prove the pregnancy? I think for all those rules they should have given away a 100,000 grand...( not the candy bar) real cash :)

Never said he was. This is Bens "Rocco's" first high profile non-Barsky stint. I'm not sure if Ben Maxwell was ever on radio outside of this area, but I never said he was the guy from Boston - I don't think the original poster did either.
