Rochester Question

Troy Patterson, circa 1971-72-73, nights at WHAM. WADD alumnus. Great pipes. Good guy. No relation to the guv. Whatever became? A Rochester radio geek asked me about him a while ago and I'd forgotten about it. Today, I open up the board and the word "Rochester" hits me and Troy Patterson comes to mind. Strange, the way the mind works. Okay. Rochester guys: "A little help here?"

Not a common name...wonder if he's the same Troy Patterson who writes the film and TV critical essays for Slate.com?

I arrived at WHAM in 1974 and I don't remember anyone named Troy Patterson. Was that the name he used on the air, or something else?

Troy Patterson was his radio name. forget his real name right now. Tall thin fellow, nice disposition. On WADD in afternoons in early 70's, where he had been there for just several months. The then PD of WHAM happened to hear him on WADD (it's listener) and called him right away to offer the evening (music) shift on WHAM, where then he lasted about 2 years. I believe WADD was his first job. Then jumps to WHAM soon after. Incredible.

Come to think of it I did meet this guy once, before I started at WHAM. His wife and I worked together. I remember her dad owning a liquor store in the 19th ward. Anyways she knew I was interested in working at WHAM and asked her husband to meet me to discuss advancing my career.

He was very nice and offered some great advise. But for the life of me I can't remember his real name.

There have been dozens of people that came and went from WHAM and WHFM during the brief four years I was there. A few I can still remember, but many of them I don't. Must be a sign of advancing age.
