Rochester's Most Gorgeous

Who is the most gorgeous anchor in Rochester? In my opinion:

WROC: Katrina Irwin, Jecoliah Ellis
WHEC: Jennifer Johnson
WHAM: Holly Maynard, Ginny Ryan
R News: Amy Young, Leah George

Why this is despicable! Call me a stodgy, conservative wonk from the old school. Let's use these forums
for legitimate flow of opinions and ideas to further enhance our broadcast experience. Let's judge professionals in our beloved Rochester market based on their journalistic merits, and not some meaningless drivel that's demeaning toward women AND men who work in our cutting edge industry. Let's better ourselves as broadcast professionals by taking advantage of our freedom of speech, yet not disgracing it by posts such as the previous one.

No you're actually right, I was just bored and was wanting to start something of a fun topic. My apologies for my offending remarks, considering I realize they are the opposite of what I had said earlier in a discussion about Randi Rhodes too. :-\

PCTV

Yeah, dust, everybody knows that appearance has nothing to do with advancement in TV, and women are allowed to age gracefully in the medium.

While I applaud you for your standards, what country are you living in? The (sad?) truth is many make their viewing decisions on "eyeball appeal"... and NOT "journalistic merits. (Not saying it's right ...or that it SHOULD be important but lets face reality) That said, I think you can make a case for this to be a "legitimate thread. And I vote for Katrina.

There is an exception however. Just ask Donna Dedee, Laura Saxby, Maggie Brooks and a few other former Channel 10 anchors who no longer work at the station because, as sources claim, they started showing their age or were putting on weight and that wasn't acceptable to the management at 10.

While all are attractive, I am not sure I would call any "gorgeous" (maybe Johnson). Maybe with the exception of Jennifer, you can find just as nice a woman walking down Park Avenue any day of the week as the ones you list. No offense, but if you are looking for lookers, Rochester isn't the right market.

Exception?

Sarcasm doesn't translate well on message boards, huh?

My intentions were not meant to be sarcastic. For a while it seemed to me that when female anchors/reporters reached a certain age, they were no longer employed at WHEC. The names mentioned in my first reply were just a few people I remember. Wendy Wright is another person that comes to mind.

Missed Again

Voice, I was being sarcastic with my original post.

You are not the first to observe that many - if not most - women "of a certain age" are pushed out the door, while men are allowed to "age gracefully" in TV.
