Rock 100.5/Bone merge Friday @ 10AM

http://atlradioinsider.blogspot.com/2013/01/flip-watch-989-bone-rock-1005-all-news.html

Our new update: New DJ schedule (which now includes two former Bone DJs) with some information about the confusion over what "The Walk" will look like. We'll be updating everyday until the flip occurs Friday Morning with Lyndsey Marie on Rock and Lewis on Bone. There'll be some simulcasting, then the full format. The only thing we don't know is what the station will be called. Our Domain Report isn't showing any hints.

I'm still surprised they haven't been using the Beavis and Butthead giggles in their bumpers.

98.9 The Bone. Hehehehehehehe - huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh

Yeah, that's the ticket to radio success.

That's the 'saviors of rock' for ya.

(What a dumb thing to say in a press release.)

Is The Walk a current or potential national brand for Cumulus Media Networks? If that was the case, it wouldn't matter if they did Contemporary Christian against The Fish because the station's objective would be just to have an affiliate in Atlanta for national sales purposes.

Food for thought... "The Walk" was a recent adult contemporary hit by Mayer Hawthorne... maybe that's a hint regarding the possible format?

I thought Mayer Hawthorne's "The Walk" was a AAA hit rather than an AC. I actually thought almost the same thing after hearing Cumulus registered a website for The Walk, though all previous "Walk" stations I'm aware of aired some derivative of Christian programming.

Whether you split hairs about format niche or not, it could still signal a sort of Dave FM revival... at the moment there is very little adult music radio to listen to in Atlanta. When I can hit three pre-sets and hear the same teenager singing the same song within ten minutes of each other, something is seriously wrong. But that's bound to happen when the same gas giants control all but a handful of stations in a single market (exactly what the founding fathers intended, right? They all read Atlas Shrugged didn't they? I know Jefferson did, I saw him quoted on the internet). I suppose we'll know for sure in a few hours, but it would be a clever (for Cumulus anyway) tease.

Not to wax too political, but +1

At this time it appears that 97.9 is dead air when I checked my car radio since my digital tuner skipped past it. Could it be that 99X might come back to that frequency?

I'll be listening for the flip when it happens at 10 am even though the radio I have at work doesn't do well with those low power frequencies so I guess it will have to be IHeartRadio for me. :)

It was mentioned in the other post that 99X would be on 97.9. Not sure why they wouldn't put it back on 98.9.

Also, 99X appears to have their Facebook page back live at https://www.facebook.com/99X.NowAt97.9?fref=ts. It was gone for a while. Not sure this means anything or not.

Hmmm, somehow I missed that post somewhere. Ah well. Thanks for letting me know! :)
