Rock 100.5 gets flagged by Arbitron for Tweet

I can understand Arbitron's concern, but if you were not a listener how would you get on the list to be tweeted? It's not like they "took" the meters off the persons they were attached too and stuck them on a table in front of a radio playing 100.5. I thought the meters could not be corrupted. Of course back in the day when there were diaries you were not suppose to have folks "come by the station" so you could fill out their diaries. I guess by thinning the industry's ranks of "expensive experienced" folks something like this could be an issue.

Arbitron seems to make a big deal out of almost nothing... They tamper with the populations, why can't radio stations tamper with their numbers?

I personally think Arbitron is right. Although I doubt that one tweet will cause anybody to do anything, where do you draw the line? I remember in the diary days, two stations in Washington, DC were giving their call letters followed by "Write it down." And around 1980, WPGC in Washington was running an announcement saying that people should fill out their diaries so the Arbitron report would be accurate.

In this case, Arbitron did nothing to Rock 100.5 except mention it in the report.

Arbitron ISN'T EVEN GOING TO BE ACCREDITED SOON, in some markets. So, WHO THE HELL CARES?

Agreed. Arbitron is a biased company, they down a lot of populations to male markets they have some pride in higher on the list. Good example is washngton, after a lot of numbers, they added some of the Baltimore market into Washington, and they cut out the entire Jersey side of the Philadelphia Radio Market, therefore I have lost respect.

Also, Atlanta by sure should have had spot 8 before Washington passed Philadelphia, which was another thing that if the populations were not tampered with would be left unchanged. The Philly metro is fifth largest it's a small metro in terms of space, it's goes away from the city about 70 miles then it's Atlantic City, Lancaster, Baltimore or New York City. What Arbitron did is cut the Jersey side and the Wilmington side out of the picture to give them their own market. We lost about 1,600,000 with Trenton, Camden and Wilmington gone.

However, I do think Rock 100.5 should have had that tweet deleted and that DJ suspended.

I don't use Twitter, but I am sure the former is already done. Re: the latter, who does the tweeting for The Regular Guys anyway? Do they do their own tweets?

I seriously doubt anyone is going to get yanked off the air for that (TRG carries too much water for Rock 100.5), but I am sure Lew Dickey sent out a "don't do it again or else" memo.

A sharp move. Given their position, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Bad publicity is publicity, after all.
This could also pretty much kill the ratings too.

It can go both ways. It'll be an interesting March PPM, eh?
