wtbk , 105.7, is wasting the stereo signal, when they are broadcasting in mono. whatever sound is on the left speaker, is also on the right speaker, sometimes you can hear a hum like a ac hum in their signal. noticed lot of the disc jockeys have left that station too. earl owens left, bret fox left last fall, now i think that buffy has left, im not sure , but think she may have. one of the better djs they hired a few years back, old school rob, was great with his friday all request show, is not there at 105.7 either. the new guy on there, john curry, does good tho to be a young dj starting out.

putting a sweeper between every song makes 105.7 look cheap to me also.

i think the station need to be upgraded, sound has a very poor mix. glad that 104.5 wklb fixed the bass problem they had. when they first came on the air on the 104.5 frequency, they had way to much bass in the output. it actually sounds good now.

Eastern KY is suffering financially due to the extreme low cost of Natural Gas, and the "warm" winter we just had. It would not matter if all of the EPA rules were thrown out, Natural Gas thanks to horizontal drilling and fracking is so much cheaper than thermal (steam) coal. Rail coal traffic is down 30 to 70% too.

If a station's local trade area is suffering so is the radio station. Are there as many commercials as two years ago? They should have a contract broadcast engineer come in a "clean up" the sound. If they can't afford one there they have much bigger problems.

is it bad when am 1450 wwxl has a better sound then the fm station 105.7 does?
i just found out today that am 1450 is a rock/top 40 format. they switched format last may and i didnt know it. i hardly listen to am radio, but hearing 1450 back as a rock format made me happy. i used to listen to wwxl a lot back in the 80s when they had the 103.1 frequency and the am 1450 frequency both. they switched to a gospel format in dec 1986, i think both am and fm was playing gospel. not sure when the new owners sold the am wwxl station, but i imagine is was when they renamed 103.1 wwlt.

An AM playing music directly competing with three FMs? That won't last long. Wonder who gave James Nolan that foolish idea? The talk format fit nicely with the newspaper, but James never took full advantage of it. And the station was sold to the current owners in 2003.

When did the owners of 103.1 wwlt sell 1450 wwxl? I know wwxl flipped format in dec 1986, 1450 am was also transmitting the gospel format, same as 103.1 fm.

In summer i noticed wwxl playing a top 40 / rock format before switching to a sports talk format.

I like the format wwxl is doing. Its a top 40 format, 105.7 is a classic rock format, and wklb 104.5 is a muxed country and rock format. Like the variety of each station, just wish 105.7 would fix their sound. Someone told me they are still running the station in dos on computer, ehich could explain why it sounds compressed to death.

What's so bad about having sweepers between the songs? It seems most large market stations tend to play at least a quick two second liner between most every song.

Do the sweepers on 105.7 just not sound good?
