Rock 105 - Same Old Stuff

Why on earth would you get rid of a station (99x) that has a better playlist than most of the other stations in this market???

How much more can listeners put up with, the same old songs over and over again!!!

Wouldn't have been a better idea to just swap the stations over instaed of just relegating 99x to the net?

I guess you mean 100.5??? But, I somewhat agree, even though I hated 99x, and the ratings proved I was not alone>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

As much as I enjoy classic rock and respect the artists that made this era, I can't help to agree. I am 30 and have listened to classic rock stations casually since my years in high school. I ask how many times can someone hear Freebird and BTO's "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" everyday for the past 30 years of your life!?! At least Dave, X, and Project refresh their music unlike The River and Rock 100.5.

Well now, pbf1 summed the truth up in one sentence. Your (naysayers) idea of "bad music" makes good money.

Can you really say that, seeing that Rock 100.5 is only four days old? I mean, give them a chance for crying out loud! They don't even have a PD yet, and they're at least playing deeper tracks than the River. As much as I hated to see 99X be confined to the 'net and HD-2, I like Rock 100.5 so far. And, they started with jocks. Didn't Dave go a few months without jocks? And, the River, well, has still only got two "live" jocks now and the third one is Jordan Graye VT rehash.

What is to refresh when you are 4 days old. They have played some currents and a good mix of classic rock, granted some is off the River playlist but not much. A lot of things you do not hear on the River. Van Halen, Hagar solo, AC/DC, Ozzy, Dio, Motley Crue, and actual personalities. Lexie Kaye might as well be VT'd. she puts me to sleep.

Personally, I love it. I was a life long listener of 96rock, and have listened to 99X on and off since the Power99 days. To me this new station is like they took the best of 96rock and 99X and combined them into one great station (best of all, not owned by Clear Channel). Hearing the Regular Guys and Axle Lowe on the same station is pretty cool to me. They have already played several songs I have not heard on the radio in years. My only complaint thus far is the weak signal (and from what I have seen, I'm not the only one with this complaint). Up here in Lawrenceville, I can pick the station up fine driving around in my car, and it seems to stay relatively clear up until about Gainesville, where I work. But it has a lot of static trying to listen inside a building.

I think (and hope) this station will do well. It will be interesting to see who they bring in to do the mid day spot.

i dont see why they play nirvana.they killed rock music.

I know it is still early, but it was odd hearing AC/DC into Nickelback. However, I did throw up my devil horns at the classic Bon Jovi and Crue cuts.

this station sux bring back 99x. why do we need another classic (OLD) rock station playing crap my dad listened to. give me a break. i mean arent there enough stations that play the who and ac/dc

i'm all for classic ALTERNATIVE rock like what X played with new stuff. but what 100 is playing sux and i hate the regular guy. they r not funny they r lame.

well, 4 kidz lyke u, ther is always Project 9-Sucks-1.

Us old people need a rock station 'cause:

1. Those little IPod earphones hurt our ears
2. Copying songs to ITunes, then moving it to the IPod, then hassling with the adapters is a hassle...and
3. Our old cars don't have an IPod input
5. Cluttering up our dashboard with IPod adapters is a nuisance
4. Apple's compression scheme still leaves big holes in the music. We paid for it, we wanna hear it all.
5. We still gotta have some DJ tell us that our favorite station plays more music...just before they go into a 5 minute stopset.
6. I feel like I'm cheating on Edwin Armstrong's memory if I give up on FM.

Personally, I like the new 100.5. They have a nice playlist. They sound like 96Rock used to when it
was a good station. I never got into Alternative music and a station playing Rock is just what was needed.
Project, the River and Dave is just not doing it for me.

I agree. Nobody was playing 1970s or 1980s hard/deep cuts, or 1980s hair bands. River's playlist is too shallow and leans too AC, Project plays too much new, hard stuff (although I have given it a try more recently and they do mix in some 80s stuff--not enough to leave it on all day, but enough to put it on a preset to see what's on every so often), and Dave plays too much Jann Wenner cognoscenti rock when they go old and deep. 100.5's playlist screams, "we're here to have fun--we don't care what the highbrows think".

I like how 100.5 mixes in just the right amount of 90s and 00s stuff--just enough to keep it fresh but not so much I turn the dial. Maybe I'll get the chance to come to like some of it. The best part--I like 80-90% of what they play at any given time, so I don't get bothered by the rest.

They better not touch that playlist, except to turn it over occasionally to keep it fresh. If they get down to 200 songs like the River it will spell the death of that station.

There's VERY little overlap with the River, as far as I can tell.

I expect Fox, I mean the River, to start playing more 60s classic rock and 70s AC--essentially becoming Atlanta's "oldies" station again but clicked a decade forward. And I expect Dave to dump the "rock without rules" pseudo-Jack pretense and become a true AAA station. Yes, that means 99x meets B98.5; and yes, that means that the 90s alt generation is getting old with the rest of us. The younger headbangers can stick with Project.

You gotta get it straight right out of the gate, that's first impressions and sets the precedence for the station. I do like there mix of classic, new and 90s Rock. As far as the River, not a good idea to multi task on-air talent on a sister station in the same market, especially a voice as well known as Graye. The morning River jock is live not "live" but the rest are VT'd and you can tell.

rock100 = song vomit
trg = word vomit
2gether they make.........................?

Inside your head, you must be a riot at parties. Don't be bitter, you can still hear 99x online or if you have a HD radio in your car.
