Rock 107 & WQFM looking for jocks?

There's an ad on allaccess. Says they are looking for "future" fulltime air talent. Do either of these stations really have openings? Could there be changes at QFM in the "future"? I don't know. Anyone else?

On the mention of this being already filled.... quick story... When I was doing one of my first full time gigs overnights at a local station, I noted that the bulletin board had a job posting for a better position and a very unusual description of requirements: "1 & 3/4 years as music director, had to have experience with an xyz production library, 2 1/2 years work with a top 40 format"... and so on.. all odd figures but quite explicit about what was required. When I questioned this, a friend who was there took me into the PD's office late at night and knew how to access his desk. He pulled out a resume from a friend of the PD who worked in another market and said "compare this resume to the posted requirements"... they matched exactly.... sometimes a posted job is only done for show. I'm sure this was not the case with 107, but I learned quickly, it's not what you know, but who you know.

I heard it was for a couple of openings some on 107 and some on Q! I hope it ain't filled I just got my package out today!

Many years ago, I walked past a job listing on our bulletin board, oh, 5-6 times a day without realizing it was my job they were listing. They'd changed the duties/responsibilities just enough that it didn't sound like my job, but it sure was. And it was all due to a personal vendetta. Gee, don't suppose anyone here can relate to that, right?

So when did you hear it was your job? When the new man came in and took your place?

It was a well-kept secret, and how they managed that is a mystery to me. I never heard a thing until I was called into the GM's office following my shift and told it was time to say good-bye. They handed me a severance package, smiled, told me what a great guy I was, and how their plans for the coming year didn't include me, and off I went. All of it very personally driven by what one man felt was my betrayal of him. Years later, he actually reached out in an attempt to apologize to me. Use your imagination as to what my response was...

Like they say you haven't worked in radio until you've been fired.I have been pushed out the door myself.

Did anyone hear the new afternoon jock on q-fm? I think he is pretty good...I didn't get his name. I still wish they go back to oldies.

/I believe his name is Shawn Parrish. He used to work with me at the old WDLS 93.7.I for one would like to know what wqfm's problem was that they had to dump the oldies. They had major market air talent, plus ratings wise from what I saw weren't doing all that bad.

I for one would like to know what wqfm's problem was that they had to dump the oldies.

Because radio management cannot keep their hands off of things that work. If some of them had their way, they'd destroy their big winner, Rock107.

Maybe it wasn't working in the sales column? Maybe they wanted a younger demo? Maybe they wanted a younger female demo? Then again maybe they truly can't keep their hands off things that work.

The younger female demo is thought to be the under-served niche in this market. Apparently WQFM went for it...and failed.
