Just checking the 12+ numbers for BR and NO and look at the almost last rated FM station in both markets..Rock 92.3...Maybe they should go AOR or mainstram..Alt rock is dead...and the numbers are showing it...comments?
 
They have been dropping a lot of the alt rock they punched in the earlier days and apparently trying a modern rock version playing a lot more active rock and way fewer alt rock hits (such as a noted decrease of groups like Pheonix, but still playing Cage the elephant and Mumford and sons which a few active rockers are actually playing)

I know they added a Local program with Paul McCoy (Lead of Northshore based 12 stones) and have been trying out a heavy metal hour (which I'm wondering why they didn't do like others and go syndicated like most do)

For someone who actually listens, Ginty and crew have way improved over first roll out.. but now it's to get in a be a lot more at debuting new and unproven songs like other modern rockers and promote a lot more heavy in the market more than Word of Mouth

If they dont add some Classic Rock in it will never be succssfull down there! They did fix the processing at least.
 
Oh they better not add any classic rock - leave it for those formats. As I travel, those active rockers that mix in classic rock play the SAME OLD TWO songs by Pink Floyd, Zep, Journey, Van Halen - BORING !!!!!
These ratings are about as good as it gets - kids these days do not listen to corporate radio - it is mostly iPods and a few do listen to satelite. Corp. radio has already run their listeners off with extremely limited playlists of two songs per artists - and then they wonder why radio is dying.
 
I wasnt suggesting they play the same old songs..but they need to play some Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, SLAYER, maybe even some Motley Crue...That new rock format makes me sick to listen too. I also HATE 200 or even 150 song playlists...I RARELY listen to anything corporate or local..
 
Want variety, check out Snap 1037 in Lafayette. They prob. have 2000+ songs in rotation. I have in all my travels never heard a classsic rock station with so much variety. You never know what you will hear next, and they use the term classic rock loosely. I heard The Fray's, "How to Save a life" the other morning on a supposed classic rock station.

I like all the variety for the most part, but at times they seem unfocused with no clear formatics.
 
will check that one out tonight..sounds like its improved since i heard it last.

If the program director of Rock 92.3 actually looks at this,

DO NOT ADD CLASSIC ROCK SONGS TO ROCK 92.3!!!!

I HATE radio stations that do that.

If I wanna listen to classic rock, I will switch it over to a classic rock station!!!!!!!!!!!

Rock 92.3 does not play alt rock....it plays ACTIVE ROCK, which is still very much alive.
 
Actually if you go look it is a hybred of active rock with some alternative thrown in (almost a modern rock station but at first they were more alternative then active).. however last book or two they are starting to head more active as they are playing artists (such as 5 finger death punch) that would not have played this time last year
 
I'm still waiting to see if Cumulus makes ANY changes to the entire N.O./ B.R./Laf. group. You would guess they would try news/ talk and/or sports somewhere like they have most everywhere else in the nation including Lake Charles.
