rock 92.....it's working for me

and that's saying something, from the perspective of a rock jock burnout who is tired of everything on rock/classic rock playlists. if i can turn on a station and not hear floyd, skynyrd, boston during the first 15 minutes, I consider that a victory. Whatever tweaking they've done to the playlist recently seems to be a good ratio of modern, mainstream, classic. However, my total listening time is approx 30 minutes or less per day, so I might not be getting a representative sample. Any thoughts?

As for 2NCG, I've heard worse, even in bigger markets. A little less self-directed giggling would be nice (try building up to a punchline without laughing the whole time, fellas)

And now, a survey: who's the best/worst overall employer in terms of stability, benefits, facilities, management if you were to choose between entercom, curtis, and dick (sorry CC, you're not invited)

Actually....CC has been fairly consistant on the established stations. TQR has had a couple of shuffles with PM Drive. But nothing REALLY major. VBZ had the same lineup for years until Monica became a mother. WMAG is VERY steady. It seems like all the turnover is at the Dick properties. How many midday and afternoon jocks has KRR gone thru int he last 5 years??? KZL is about the same.

Then again, are you talking about Programming or Sales? Entercom and Dick have both had very stable sales staffs. Some turnover with the junior members, but that's everywhere. Entercom sales people seem happy, satisfied, and loyal.
Same with Dick sales people. Funny how the two groups with the happiest salespeople also have big on-air staff turnover. At least it seems that way. I don't think the CC sales staff is too happy or loyal.

Truth is the larger companies have shaved commissions time and time again leaving even the most veteran of sellers needing to handle larger volume of business to make the same $$ they made years ago. I imagine that's the case at all of these companies named. DBC may be the anomole since they are the only company locally owned and operated stations DOING WELL. These companies have to decide how many sellers they want to "feed". Load it up with sellers and you're having to move too many accounts around, resulting in less volume for vet's and smaller paychecks.

You can name a few core, veteran reps at all stations but the bottom 20% (or higher in CC's case) continues to churn, even at DBC. I think the terms "Happy, Satisfied and Loyal" are all subjective. With respect to entercom, I know a handful of core sellers but they churn 'em and burn 'em just as good as CC. As far as programming, CC may be as good or better than any other group to work for. Very little turnover (relative to the market).

Here's what I'm wondering... With the Bain Lee take over of Clear Channel, selling off underperforming stations is inevitable. Does anyone think that will effect Greensboro, Raleigh or Clt?

Does this mean, if true, You will finally get out and Sell something??? Too much talk on the boards about DCB. We have survived since 1946 without ya, Thank ya! Right Omar! (Insider Joke...Saturday Night Fish Fry..Still on the BMI Logs)

I think Tina B was referring to Dick Broadcasting NOT Davidson County Broadcasting.

Same with Dick sales people. Funny how the two groups with the happiest salespeople also have big on-air staff turnover. At least it seems that way. I don't think the CC sales staff is too happy or loyal.

Entercom sales people seem happy, satisfied and loyal, eh? Sure, compared to people living in, say, the Sunni Triangle.

Who wouldn't be happy working for a petty, tyranical micro-managing GM who cuts commissions to sellers every year?

Can you say 'Stepford' salepeople? After Bowel Movement chased any people worth anything out, the ones left and the ones hired have no self initiative or self worth. They are told that they have a good deal and to love it. Better than being without.

Still say talk to the customers, the clents, find out what they think of the big E. They buy cause radio still works despite the staff.

One last point: don't think that a certain amount of the sales staff doesn't think the same way as BM does. Petty, tyranical micro-managing stab you in the back in a second, is the way they also think,... so all get along.

Dick Broadcasting is locally owned and operated?????

Ape, Ape, Ape....

How nice that you should play down your radio genius and ask such an idiotic question like "is Dick a locally owned company". Oh I know what you're doing you sly fox you. You're just trying to make everyone think your not the omnicient radio professional that you come off as. Surely someone as quick to comment on EVERYTHING on these boards would know something that elementary....

I'm on to your game you trickster but careful you don't send the wrong message. If you do, you may NEVER get off that overnight shift!!! :-*

Any truth to the rumour that Ent. sales people are not allowed to go out to lunch with each other?
