Yea, then Krantz showed up with his jihad against tobacco, Jesse Helms, and all the other things that made one proud to be a Southern Redneck. I don't know how he lasted 10 MINUTES, let alone 10 years. Thank goodness Dick Broadcasting finally came to their senses and replaced his vicious, liberal butt with the sophisticated sounds of John Boy and Billy, who ultimately gave way to the Stern-bit stealing sounds of the Chris Brothers. Did Krantz ever work in the business again after Rock 92?

Mr. Krantz was employed at WBT in Charlotte where, in afternoon drive, he was paired with Richard Spires as "Spires and Krantz." They never really caught on and, after WBT canned them, Richard got in some trouble with the law. I don't know what happened from that. Brad Krantz went to the 101.1 FM station (WZTK I think is the calls) from Burlington where he was working the morning shift. I don't know if he is still there or not.

"Two Guys Named Chris" is the best morning show in the Greensboro and Raleigh markets.

Agreed, though I don't want my kids listening to it...

Spires and Krantz was actually higly rated, and they were picked multiple times as one of the most influential talk shows by Talkers Magazine. Spires chose to end the show due to family problems, which ultimately got the better of him.

>>family problems<<

(chuckle) if, by family, you mean prosecutors. the spires and krantz show was popular and management at wbt felt krantz just couldn't re-reate the magic by himself, so they sh*tcanned him at the end of '03. he finally got old man curtis to hire him fot 'ZTK and he does the morning show with the guy who did the bob hope and strom thurmond voices for the s&k show. they are just hanging on at that station and waiting for curtis to flip it to spanish any day.

btw, the best krr lineup was:

brad and chris then amberg then bunch. good all day long.

Not hard to beat "DUUUHHHHUUUUHHHH" and Mayberry Trivia. That's all Rock 92 has. They get beaten pretty good in other dayparts.

Nothing's wrong with it, if you like a station that's voice-tracked 19 hours a day (24 hours a day on weekends) that is without soul, personality, and restricts its "personalities" outside of am drive to keep it under 30 seconds, lest the mouth-breathing morons who would still listen to the SAME PLAYLIST on a station now in its 20th year tune away since it's all about the MUZAK!

How do you know if they voice track that much? Even if they did, I would rather listen to personalities that are actually living in my hometown (voicetracked or not), than listen to a station where most of the personalities are from other markets and don't even live here (Hello? Clear Channel?) Even VBZ's afternoon guy left and moved to Texas...he's not even here...he voicetracks from San Antonio.

As for the playlist...yeah, I can't argue there...but that's classic rock.

Doesn't every market outside of the majors pretty much have some voicetracking?

Buzzard afternoons are coming from Dallas...not San Antonio. Does everyone think CC pipes it in from San Antonio just cause Lowry's there??? It's a lil different when a person is VTing a station where they really worked and lived in the market for a number of years. What good is it to be live & local when all you hear is "That was and this is"?
