Rock 94.9 is taking complaints against the WFHK translator for interference

Just saw this on RadioInsight.com a few minutes ago (I guess it's ok to name the site on the RD board now...I don't think it's a "dirty word", anymore, lolol). Radio Assist Ministry has applied to relocate their CP for 94.9 W235BQ Pell City, AL to 94.3. The rebroadcasting station is given as...WJOX-FM Birmingham..??

Yeah, I saw that.

It appears they've come up with a good solution to the problem of sharing a frequency with the translator in Birmingham.

94.9 in Pell City will (temporarily) jump to 94.3 and relay WJOX since it's one click off from it, to minimize any interference issues while they put it on the air. My guess is they'll immediately file another minor mod to move to 94.1 which will put them on a clear frequency and allow the translator to possibly go back up on Bald Rock Mountain.

They only need to light up the translator on 94.3 long enough to make the move "legal" in the eyes of the FCC, and it won't remain there any longer than it has to be since it might cause trouble to WJOX. Perhaps Clear Channel pointed them in this direction as a mutually beneficial solution to both translators. I wouldn't be surprised if CC is even paying for the filing costs on this one. I'm sure whatever translator RAM is using is frequency-agile so there shouldn't be any issues retuning it to 94.3 and then 94.1.

If it works out, Stokes will get the St. Clair County signal on FM they want, and perhaps CC can boost Rock 94.9's power a little more as well. Win-win.
