While I am happy that ROCK 96.7 is back, however what is mindboggling is that the ACTIVE ROCK format is being simulcasted on KWSX-1280 AM. Yes, Rock Music on the AM Dial! I would have thought Clear Channel would have gone with a Safer Format for 1280. Heck, They could have kept LA PRECIOSA going on 1280.

I agree -- La Preciosa could be kept on the AM. Maybe they have other plans for the AM. Not sure what, but maybe.

According to an employee of Clear Channel, The ROCK 96.7 format simulcast on KWSX-1280 is only TEMPORARILY! However, He wouldn't tell me what format it will be or when another change will occur. As long as it isn't ANOTHER SIMULCAST of Modesto NEWSTALK sister station, KFIV-1360. They've tried that several times (1996-00, 2001-02, 2006-07) with no success. Hopefully it will be a format lacking in the valley?

ROCK 1280-KWSX-STOCKTON

Well, it is still hard to believe that AM 1280 is ROCKING! KWSX-1280 and KMRQ-96.7 is currently to JOCKLESS COMMERCIAL-FREE ACTIVE ROCK MUSIC, until SEPTEMBER 22, that is for KMRQ, not sure about KWSX. An employee of CLEAR CHANNEL emailed me, saying that it's his impression that the ACTIVE ROCK simulcast of KMRQ for 1280 is temporary. He wouldn't tell me what the new format will be or even when the change would occur. It has been rumored that CLEAR CHANNEL might sell 1280, but who would buy it? 1280 hasn't made the ARBITRON ratings in 8 years when they were playing OLDIES as KOOL 1280. I just hope 1280 doesn't go back and simulcast NEWSTALK KFIV-1360 again. They've tried that several times with no success. If they have to simulcast a station, I am surprised they just didn't simulcast KQOD-MEGA 100. I think RHYTHMIC OLDIES would play better on the AM DIAL than ACTIVE ROCK?

Great! Now that 96.7 signal (97.1 too) makes it's hard for me to get the Eagle 96.9 until I get into Stockton or Lodi; used to be able to get it pretty good thru Ripon and Manteca going north on 99 without the interference issues. That is just super!

KMRQ 96.7 didn't raise power or change TL when they switched from Spanish to Rock.
