Nice post CTyner.
One correction: amazingly, Steve Czaban was fired in Charlotte at WFNZ before landing at 980 in D.C., where his morning show that airs live on FSR (and repeats all three hours on XM 142 beginning at noon), is now being pre-empted on its originating station by Mike and Mike. What a business.
FWIW, I kinda like the direction that the Rays' pre-and-post game shows are taking right now. They have tightened up a lot from last year, when they where letting the announcers from the Rays' minor league clubs do self-contained segments (awful). There's been a lot more caller interaction on the post-game show this year -- that's what winning will do for you. Also, I've noticed in recent weeks, they are playing more highlights from other games in the post-game scoreboard wrap -- that's also an improvement. The Rays are in a pennant race, other games are suddenly relevent to Tampa Bay fans.
One more thing, and perhaps this deserves its own thread at some point. I'm hearing 1010 will be adding some new local shows in the coming days, as their deal with Sporting News Radio expires. With so many different ways to hear national shows (XM, streaming audio, etc.), local shows on local stations are much more interesting...
