Rock radio in Dallas

This weeekend I've spent some time listening to the resurrection of K-Rock in New York. Not bad at all. I think the same type of scenario would be great in Dallas. Our market has had some great rock stations over the years. I wonder what CBS plans to do with 105.3. With the exception of Jagger's show, nearly anything would be better than the weak programming that they've been running.

I don't understand why they don't change Jack and turn it into a rock station. I highly doubt that Jack will ever do anything anyway.

I had thought Jack was doing quite well in Dallas -- maybe not 12+ (and who cares?) but within the sales demo. No?

Traditional rock/AOR has been struggling in recent years...even with WXRK's return in New York, there are still 5 of the 10 largest markets without a rock station (with: WXRK New York, WMMR Philly, WWDC Washington, WKLS Atlanta, WRIF Detroit without: LA, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston). #11 Boston doesn't have one. #12 Miami does have one -- WHDR -- but its an enormous non-factor ratings wise.

It looks like KLBJ-FM Austin has moved back to having current music in the mix; it changed format to classic rock 2 years ago, leaving only San Antonio among the 4 Texas markets in the top 50 market size with a rock station.
